RR&DT: Next steps.

These are the next five things that absolutely must happen for Red Roses and Dead Things, since they involve utilizing the time of remote performers:

1. Deliver tracks for 'Mad Science Love Song' to Tom.
2. Female minion vocal track, 'Mad Science Love Song.'
3. Instrumental track, 'Dear Gina.'
4. Lead vocal track, 'Dear Gina.'
5. Instrumental track, 'Maybe It's Crazy.'

Why does 'Dear Gina' get a pass to the front of the line? Well, largely because we're going to need to figure out how to deal with recording Vixy's backing vocals, which may well need to be done in Seattle and sent back to San Jose. 'Mad Science Love Song', meanwhile, is going to be a real Frankenstein of a song, recorded in at least two different locations. Maybe more, depending on our minions. Meanwhile, 'Maybe It's Crazy' is going to have a special guest Paul. Also...

I GET TO RECORD A DUET WITH TOM SMITH!!!!! How awesome is that? Pretty damn awesome. I am so down with my life right now, it's not funny.

These are the next five things that need to happen but don't depend on the time requirements of out-of-towners:

1. Vocal drop-ins, 'Oh, Michelle.'
2. Instrumental track, 'Some Girls.'
3. Lead vocal track, 'Some Girls.'
4. Paul's vocal track, 'What A Woman's For.'
5. Maya plays theramin (as in, 'impersonates'), 'Oh, Helen.'

...the to-do lists I can construct around this album are quite potentially endless. WITHOUT END. But it helps, especially since my natural default state is 'running up the side of an avalanche', and having a series of carefully annotated to-do lists helps me to remember that things aren't all that bad. Jeff is actually working on the instrumental tracks for 'Maybe It's Crazy,' 'You Get the Tickets,' and 'Darkness Falls' as we speak. The creepy songs will have their day!
