Ten good things about today.

10. I'm recording tonight! Yes. I am spending tonight at Mystic Fig Studios, where I will lay down the vocal lines for 'Red Roses and Dead Things' (the title song) and 'Mad Science Love Song,' as well as a scratch vocal for 'Dear Gina' (included on the album thanks to your votes!). We're seriously about to move into hyperdrive on this album, since we seem to have blinked and misplaced most of 2008, and I really want to release at Conflikt.

9. Despite the fact that my pedicure was over a week ago, it has endured much, much better than my manicure. My toes remain sparkly and orange, which is deeply pleasing unto me. Not pleasing enough that I think I'm ever likely to do that again, but pleasing unto me.

8. I have the new Kelley Armstrong book! The Summoning is her first entry into the wonderful world of YA fiction, and it's all shiny and pretty and full of story that I haven't read yet. Also, it's signed. To me. By her. And my name is spelled correctly, which is a rare and wonderful thing even when I'm standing right there telling the author how to spell it.

7. I have a picture of Ripley the Sphinx -- or, as I prefer to call her, 'ALIEN SUEDE KITTYFACE!!!' -- on my desk. It's eerie and unreal and staring at me fixedly, which is just essentially made of awesome and win. Also, potentially, made of eating my soul, but beggars can't be choosers.

6. Eureka returns to the Science Fiction Channel tonight! Hopefully they'll have gotten over whatever weird bug bit them last season, and will be steering away from the increasingly dark, depressing nature of season two. If not, hopefully they'll give Fargo more screen time. I'm pretty easy when it comes to my television, really.

5. I am wearing my happy blue Tyrannosaurus Rex T-shirt, which would be an awesome shirt even if it hadn't been a surprise from Vixy. But it was a surprise from Vixy, and that makes it triple-strength awesometastic with a side-order of awesome sauce.

4. The new Girlyman album, Somewhere Different Now, is basically like having a live Girlyman show living inside my iPod. I press a button and hey-presto, Girlyman is totally on a stage six feet away from me, goofing around. Plus, any album that includes Nate making gleeful cannon noises is a-okay by me.

3. There's a video of the first single from the She & Him album, Volume One. It includes an army of gleefully dancing Zooey Deschanels, oceans of cartoon blood, and a whole bunch of retro-looking little cartoon ghosts. It's seriously like watching one of my own dream sequences, and it's very bizarre. The song is 'Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?,' and I highly recommend looking up the video on YouTube.

2. I was reminded this morning that I exist in a universe slightly parallel to the normal flow of reality, and that honestly, I like it better over here. More on this later.

And the number one good thing about today...

1. I am officially a member of SFWA! Yes! In fact, for a few shining moments, I get to be the newest member of SFWA, which apparently makes me the official 'Baby SWFAn.' SFWA has always been that distant and untouchable shining tower where all the real authors got to hang out, and suddenly, I'm getting my own bathroom key. I was sort of waffling on whether or not to join, and I think it was because part of me was convinced that they'd turn me down and I'd find out all this was really the world's most elaborate practical joke. They didn't. It's not. It's all real.

What's awesome about your day?
