A fire sale thank-you.

Jul 27, 2007 07:44

This was given to me by the recipient of our recent fire sale, who has asked to remain anonymous, for the time being. Thanks again to everyone who participated; you really helped to do an amazing thing...

"Dear friends,

"I call you all friends now, and will be happy to do so all my life. A few weeks ago, I was terrified, and you helped me and my family so much. This note is sent to Seanan to thank you all so much for the help you gave us at a crucial time.

"The problems my family were facing are nothing new. Plenty of people have unexpected illnesses and medical bills. Plenty of people face tax bills they don't count on, car accidents, work layoffs, unexpected debts. I only hope that few people have to face them all at once like we had to. April and May were, for us, one disaster after another, with thousands of dollars of debt mounting due in a small space of time, while I lost my job and half our income due to my former employer's stringent sick-time rules (namely: you get NO sick time at all, so sorry), and cannot collect unemployment due to the vagaries of my state's rules on that matter.

"The $1400 you generously donated made a huge difference in not just getting us through everyday debts in June like 'feeding my little girl', but in paying off some of the lingering medical debt hovering over our heads. I cannot remember the last time I cried in gratitude and faith in other people as much as I have over what you've done for me and my family.

"Special thanks of course go to Seanan and Chris/Porpentine@lj, who made this possible on a personal and technical level, who went to bat for me above and beyond, and who kept me afloat. But from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all."

So that's your Friday affirmation: you are awesome, beyond words.

Thank you.

life rocks, good things
