Song: Ode to Boom.

Nov 16, 2006 13:59

I always had a thing for science and the men who make it.
If you know just how something works, it's easier to break it.
But then they came along and blew apart
All the laws and constants of my heart,
And now I know that I am not alone...

They're just normal guys, but armed with high explosives,
Crash-test dummies, levers, switches, and corrosives,
And they're blowing all those myths away,
I'm praying they'll come here one day,
To reject my dull reality, and substitute their own!

We've all believed this stuff for years,
        But these scientific pioneers
Are finally willing to find out what's really true.
I see them on Discovery --
Oh, why won't they discover me?
Adam, Jamie, I'd just love to bust a myth with you...

They've confirmed that you can make a living going crazy,
And the things they do each week continue to amaze me.
It sure looks like a lot of fun,
Setting up that giant chicken gun,
And now I know that frozen birds still fly...

They've got brains and skill, and lots of dedication,
All devoted to expanding education.
I barely lived before I knew
That thing about the ducks was true.
There's nothing they can't blow up, if they take the time to try!

We've all believed this stuff for years...

Microwaving random things, sausage cannons, pigs with wings,
Cellphones causing gas pumps to explode.
Cement trucks and dynamite, flip the trigger, get it right,
                Ping-pong balls, exploding commodes.
Climb the wall with suction cups, if that won't work, then blow it up,
Load that chicken into a gun.
Let the shrapnel fall and then, blow the whole thing up again.
You will believe that science is fun!

So at last I know I've found my destiny.
Blowing things away for science is the path for me.
I know that if I were allowed,
I'd make those gods of science proud,
With salsa, mass destruction, and a rope.

I could win them with my methods scientific;
Failing that, I'd use explosions quite horrific.
Plywood houses, pigs in trunks,
Sinking myths that should be sunk,
These masterminds of science prove that humankind has hope!

We've all believed this stuff for years,
        But these scientific pioneers
Are finally willing to find out what's really true.
I see them on Discovery --
Oh, why won't they discover me?
Adam, Jamie, I'd just love to bust a myth with you...

I see them on Discovery --
Oh, why won't they discover me?
Adam, Jamie, I'd just love to bust a myth with you.
