In which Seanan reveals two great sources of joy.

You may have noticed that I've been rather...distracted...for the past week or so. Well, there's a reason for that. Two reasons, actually.

On Thursday, October 26th, my best friend and clone, Mars (ohimesamamama) arrived in California. We hadn't seen each other in over a year -- not since OVFF 2005, when I was frankly too busy to bask in her presence the way I prefer. I love all my friends, but I find that it really helps if we get together in the flesh once in a while, just to keep our wires from getting too terribly crossed. So there was that.

The other reason for my distraction was also the reason for Martha's visit. Because, you see, Stephen King had a speaking engagement in downtown San Francisco on Monday, October 30th, to promote his new book, Lisey's Story. Tickets sold out nigh-instantly, because Stephen King fans are a somewhat frightening lot, and we don't get to see him very often. Something about actually wanting time to write -- pff. Whatever. Anyway...

I got tickets.

Almost by accident, I got tickets. I'd been trying for ticket, singular, and wound up with two, and that was the final impetus needed to get Mars onto a plane and out here to see me in my native habitat.

Monday night, I saw Stephen King, live, speaking actual words, to a room full of people. And I did it with my clone.

Happiest blonde ever, me.

stephen king, life rocks, good things, clones, book slut
