Spoilers spoil things, or 'Seanan has no cable and she must scream'.

Aug 03, 2006 07:18

Okay, guys. The new TV season's getting underway -- if you, like me, adore shows such as 'Eureka' and 'Psych', the new TV season is already well underway, and just picking up steam -- and that means it's time for a plea. Namely:

Please, please, please don't assume I've seen any given episode until I say I have ( Read more... )

I, angieelz, solemnly swear I will never post a spoiler for you to read.

So sorry you're not able to get your fixes sooner! I know how that is, though, and can relate.

I heard on the news this morning there was an earthquake in San Fran last night, thought of you, and am glad you're posting today. Sounded like a little one.

You are my hero.

I wish I still had cable -- I miss being able to go watch bad monster movies on SciFi for six and sixteen hours at a time -- but I just can't afford it on my own.

The quake was about 4.4, and while most of my friends felt it, it didn't reach me at all. I am the safe and the sound!

Cut tagging can be arranged on this end, although the only show on your list that I'm intending to watch (as my pseudo-Tivo collects episodes) is "Psych".

The good news is that it's almost certainly going to be the case that CW will be a broadcast network in your area if WB and UPN were. One station will go to CW; the other is likely to show English adaptations of Mexican telenovelas.

You are my hero. And you may want to check out 'Eureka' -- it's been fabulously great fun so far, all mad science goodness. We haven't had anything like that since 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids' (which needs to be on DVD).

I figure the CW should be broadcast, yeah, for exactly that reason. I only wish the other channel would go back to what it used to be, since pre-WB/UPN, channel 20 was our local bad monster movie channel, and channel 44 pretty much just showed sitcoms and 'Star Trek'.

"Oh, the cut-tag and the spoiler should be freeeeeiiiinds..." ;)

I too, am cable-free for fiscal reasons. I hereby pledge to post no spoilers unless identified as such and properly cut-tagged.

BTW: Rosebud? is a ... ;)

I'll try to be more lj-cutty.

Though my posts tend to be more stream-of-consciousness.

I didn't think my spoiler policy was arbitrary, as I used existing societal mores [including the availability of bit torrent] ...but I also make effort to be very meticulous about labeling the entry for what it is before I get into what I'm getting into.

And after two repetitions of said policy, and no complaints about it except for someone who complained about spoilering Star Wars for people who haven't seen it yet, I went for it.

I wish you'd said something at the time when I made the two announcements about it. I'm not trying to change the color of my hare, but it does feel a little like this is directed at me.

If it were just and only you, I'd have contacted you privately. But I got to work this morning to find a literally scene by scene dissection of the latest 'Psych', no cut-tags, no spoiler warnings. Why? Because it's already aired, so you must have seen it if you care!

And then I did some shrieking.

You do label entries, which is fabulous, because it lets me skip over yours; I know you recently did a post on 'Eureka' that had spoilers, and I was able to skip it. But a lot of people don't. On the subject of societal mores and spoilers...I actually had a long discussion of this with my SO the other day, because I had my last little bit of desire to see Serenity slaughtered for me by someone who didn't believe spoilers needed to be concealed.

I take the line that if I'm going to get detailed, a cut-tag is needed -- heck, my VM essays tend to include (and are labeled as including) spoilers for obscure teen romcoms and old episodes of 'Cupid', and that's a large part of why I cut them. It's polite to people who want to read me and ( ... )
