Does the bed come complete with Demons, or were those extra?

You have to lay out some demon bait for them.

I am glad you have a bed now.

However, one thing about this entry truly amused me. That would be the bit where you commented that one result of the bed was you realizing you need more shelves.

Honey? I thought breathing resulted in you realizing you need more shelves!

. . . you know, I apologize if the 'honey' is inappropriate. I've been using it all morning in e-mails to a college friend where it's standard.

"Need more shelves" is one of those unspoken defaults, I think. Mind you, I have known it to vary, but only to "Need more shelves and a bigger apartment in which to put them."

We can tell "fannish" [or those who aren't fannish but think like fans, who are sometimes just as good if not better, or at least often better socialized] from "non-fannish" friends by their reaction when they first come into the house...

Non-fans: "Wow, you have so many books!"
Fans: "Wow, you have so many bookshelves!"

(And no, of course there still *aren't* enough shelves, we just hide things.)

I got my new bed back in November, and I still roll around in it with giddy glee like I just got it cause it's such a contrast to the hard as rock bed I used to have.

O_O I slept on a couch for a single summer once and it did HORRID things to my back and neck.

I'm impressed that you had survived fourteen years as well as you have!

...

Is your new bedthing really comfy? What was it like finally being able to spread out? ^_^

Sleeping on couches really depends a lot on the couches in question. Her couch was long enough and deep enough that it makes more sense. Think something closer to a long twin sized bed with back and arm rests. It was probably a little narrower, but not all that much.

But still, after 14 years, it's probably not offering support like it used to.

Indeed! I tend to switch out beds every six years or so. But then I'm used to futons that get work rather quickly, probably due to the lack of a box spring.

I am very soon going to be needing to purchase a bed myself -- or, rather, the bed frame. I have been in an apartment with a built-in sleeping platform for the past several years, so I just had to get a mattress. I started out with a futon -- but a couple years ago made the switch to a high-density foam mattress and it changed my life.

I got that at the recommendation of a couple I know -- he is a friend who has had chronic back problems his whole life, and she is a massage therapist. So she was able to say, "these are the exact technical reasons why this kind of mattress is best for you," and he was able to say, "And I can back that up by saying that we got one and honestly, I haven't had trouble with my back at all since we did."
