I've been lazy the last couple of days. There were a bunch of posts I wanted to make but didn't. Well, here's one...
All four of my sports were on in the space of 13 hours between Sunday night and Monday morning. Suffice to say I was running on barely any sleep on Monday. Good thing it was a public holiday in Melbourne :D.
Anyway, in that spirit, I felt like making a post about all four of the sports, plus 'introduce' the athletes I like, because I'm noticing a trend of me picking out 'pairs' (favorites and second favorites) for each sport. They're not necessarily friends with each other (some are even bitter rivals), but I like them nonetheless.
MotoGP - Catalunya GP
- YAY for DANI PEDROSA winning his home GP! I've never seen him so happy! He looked absolutely ecstatic that he won so dominantly in front of his home crowd, who CHANTED his name! Very cool. I love seeing him crack his normally Kimi-esque facade to grin from ear to ear.
- 'Would have LOVED to see Casey Stoner finished second, but Rossi was just too incredibly, ANNOYINGLY good that it wasn't to be. Still, Dani's closing to Rossi in second place in the championship, so I gotta be happy with that.
- 'Missed Lorenzo not being on the grid :(. He's the other bun in my ideal Stoner-Pedrosa-Lorenzo sandwich ;D.
250cc: Damn, I was so hoping Bautista would win! And I really don't like Simoncelli too. But anyway, it's good to see Bautista on the podium after several disastrous results. This is not my only reason for liking him, obviously, but he is simply too cute to NOT be on camera:
My sister, who was lying in the sofa half-asleep while I was watching, actually said, when Bautista came on screen for his interview, "Wow, he's so good looking!" Yes, he is :D. And I like how he always looks cheerful.
125cc: Yay for Mike DiMeglio! I like this Frenchie. In some ways, the 125s is more exciting to watch than the 250s, just because there are a lot more battles. I don't think I have solid favorites yet, but I'm leaning towards DiMeglio and Gadea.
MotoGP Pairs:
- Dani Pedrosa & Casey Stoner
- Dani Pedrosa & Jorge Lorenzo
*
Pedrosa is my favorite and Stoner and Lorenzo are equal seconds. I can't decide which one I like better. For every race, I'm just hoping for these three to share a podium, like they did in Qatar this year:
* Btw, that picture of Pedrosa & Lorenzo are taken when the freakin' KING OF SPAIN (their King) tried to make peace between them and get them to shake hands. Apparenly, Pedrosa & Lorenzo can't stand each other, though I like 'em both, heh.
Tennis - French Open
Yay for Nadal winning his FOURTH consecutive French Open title!!!
That was also probably the first match I've seen, in which he dispatched Federer so bloody easily. I mean 6-0 in the third set??? Wow... I've never seen Nadal so strong and Federer so weak... That was probably the shortest final I've seen involving Federer. That guy has never gone down in three straight sets. It was bizarre. Nadal HAS been an absolute JUGGERNAUT in France this year, but even Djokovic, I think, wasn't beaten that easily by him... I wonder what's up with the Fed Express?
Well, he'll probably back to his old dominating self in his 'home' Wimbledon.
Still, a little part of me can't help but hope that this will be the year, in which either Nadal or Djoko finally takes the title from him...
Tennis Pair: Rafael Nadal & Novak Djokovic
I don't know which one I like better! I like Nadal because of his endurance and athleticism, but Djokovic is such an entertainer. Every tournament I watch I'm just hoping to see these two in the Finals.
F1 - Canadian GP
Not to be redundant, my thoughts are
here @
f1 I'm happy to be able to post these pics...
... while still pissed off at fucker Lew-Ewww, who deservedly got a ten-place grid penalty in the next race, for ruining Kimi's race, especially after I read the following articles, in which the spoiled brat showed his true arrogant colors by refusing to admit his dumb mistake:
"Penalty 'Harsh,' Rules 'Silly' - Hamilton""Kimi, Press, Slam Hamilton" What a childish, little fucker. Even Rosberg, who's the same age and debuted around the same time, was man enough to own up, even though his mistake was FAR LESS WORSE than Lew-Ewww's:
"Rosberg Says Crash Penalties Justified" Regardless of everything, I gotta love Kubica's little slight at Lew-Ewww at the end of that article:
"I have to thank [Hamilton] that he chose Kimi and not me," [Kubica] added with a smile.
Yes, it was CONVENIENT that he hit a championship rival, though the irony is, the crash allowed TWO new championship rivals (Kubica, who's leading the championship points, and Massa, who's equal with Lew-Ewww) to come to the fore.
Btw, speaking of Kubica, I must include this piece :D :
"Kubica Would Welcome Alonso as BMW Teammate" Yes, I HAVE noticed that these two are pretty good buddies and hang out together a lot, but I particularly ADORE this part:
"We appreciate each other as drivers but also as people. You know with him that when he says something, it is what he really thinks," Kubica added.
"[Alonso] is not someone who thinks too much about his image, or says something for marketing or just to look good."
Again, I think that was a slight on Lew-Ewww ;D. Hee hee, I think I love you, Robert Kubica!
F1 Pair: Fernando Alonso & Kimi Raikkonen
Duh! I think everyone know this! I still think they're the two most talented drivers and, whaddya know, they're the only drivers in the paddock with a World Championship on their belts ;D. I like Alonso slightly more than Kimi, but I'd love to see Kimi win a second title to match Fernando. I want badly to see them as teammates, though it's probably very unlikely. I also like how Fernando & Kimi seem to be good buddies with Kubica & Heikki respectively.
NASCAR - Pocono
I'm sad to say that that was one of the most boring races. I don't know what it is about the track or the cars, but there weren't many battles, were they? The TNT coverage didn't help. They just weren't that exciting to listen to compared to the guys from FOX. Plus, it didn't help that Kyle Busch crashed out early, then Montoya was swiped by Bowyer and literally burst into flames (!), then Edwards had that tire problem (though he didn't end up finishing too shoddily)... Well, at least Vickers finished second. He was like my shining light at the end of the race, but too bad his tires weren't as fresh as Kahne's. Jeff and Jimmie didn't finish TOO badly either, considering their cars, but I must admit that I'm once again somewhat amazed by Chad Knaus. That guy is one mean strategist.
NASCAR Pairs:
- Kyle Busch & Carl Edwards
Kyle & Carl are my 'star' pair :D. Similar to Nadal & Djokovic, I love Busch because of his pure talent (he's just THAT exciting to watch, regardless of fan opinion), while Edwards 'had' me with his friendly, entertaining personality. I'd like to see the fight for the Cup come down to these two this year. At the moment, Busch & Edwards are first and fourth respectively on the standings, so they SHOULD make the Chase, but with the Chase system the way it is, it'll actually be quite open for any of the twelves. Still, I think these two have probably the most consistently good cars at the moment.
- Juan Pablo Montoya & Brian Vickers
These two are my 'underdog' pair :D. They're both outside the Top 12, but both have shown promising drives, despite crashing out quite a few times this year as well. They don't drive the bestest cars, obviously, but they make the most of what they have.
- Jeff Gordon & Jimmie Johnson
Jeff & Jimmie are my 'veteran' pair. They're both such accomplished, impressively good drivers that, despite their weaker cars this year, they can never be counted out. Unlike the others, these two are quite good friends outside the track, though I'm not sure what their relationship's like at the moment after their issues last year.
Yes, with the lack of new TV episodes except for Battlestar Galactica, my life is reduced to motorsports and tennis. Well, I HAVE also been re-watching Dead Like Me :D. My GOD, that show was good! I forgot how much I enjoyed George and her buddies :D. 'Makes me even want to continue watching Reaper due to the similar subject matter.
