Comment on this entry with 7 of my interests that you would like explained and I'll reply with the explanations and 7 interests of yours that I am curious about.
alexwhitman25 gave me the following:
1. ASOUE (Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events)
In my first year of college, when I was waiting between the Harry Potters, I started reading plenty of children's book. Well, this one was my favorite, because it was rather dark, imaginative, and slightly whimsical, with its vague Victorian setting, oddball characters, and audience-addressing type of writing. I also liked that the main characters were
siblings and I particularly ADORED the LOOK of the books (the hardcover, the unstraightened pages, the ILLUSTRATIONS). While
the movie didn't faithfully follow the books, narratively, it did capture the whimsical, darkly artistic tone of the books. Jim Carrey was also surprisingly perfect as the villain Count Olaf and Emily Browning, in particular, (who, I noticed, many people have somehow imagined as Bella in the Twilight fandom, though Kristin Stewart eventually got that role), really struck me with her loveliness.
2. Hotch/Prentiss, from Criminal Minds
Well, just look at them! Don't they just look perfect together? Hee hee ;D, nah, really, I like them because I believe they have chemistry. It's a bit odd that I ship them, since I used to ship Hotch/Elle and was prepared to dislike Prentiss when Elle left. As it turned out, she ended up pretty much my favorite character! She's different from Elle, who WAS my favorite, yet I love how she is so intelligent (speaking Arabic, for instance) and at the same time still a dork. I like her story with Hotch too, with he knowing her dad back from his protection detail work, and then later, she preferring to quit rather than becoming a spy and gather dirt on Hotch for that superior FBI lady, especially since he was the one who then showed up at her door and asked her to come back. And I'm definitely over-analyzing, but I think there were subtle hints; like the way she looked when Hotch was served divorce papers, or when Hotch finally signed those said papers, the camera sort of panned out from his office to include a shot of Prentiss working on her desk... Now that he's single again, I really want these two together (please, PTB, don't go the Haley 2.0 route).
3. Karl Agathon (Helo), from Battlestar Galactica
When I first watched BSG, he was the character that stood out to me. It's not just because I thought he was the hottest guy :D (in fact, usually I'm not attracted to big tall men); I wanted to keep watching because I'd like to know what happened to this guy, who so selflessly gave up his seat (and also Sharon, who we didn't know then was the woman he loves) for stupid wanker Gaius Baltar, to be abandoned on nuclear wasteland Caprica. Ironically, PTB actually intended for him to die (off-camera), but people were so struck by him that they brought him back, eventually crafting the Helo/Sharon love story, which ended up being my favorite thing in BSG. I love Helo because he's such a decent person, never losing his humanity, always standing up for those in the minority, and unwavering in his love for Sharon. He's perhaps a tad unrealistically selfless a character --- he reminds me of Faramir from LotR --- but, really, I think this show needs at least one honestly, genuinely GOOD human character. If they ever killed ANY of the Agathons, they'll break my heart.
4. Melbourne Demons
The Demons are my football team (Australian rules football). They are the oldest of the teams and this year commemorates its 150th anniversary. I wish I could say that it's celebrating well, but, in fact, they have been playing worst, being at the bottom of the ladder, having only won one match this season. As a result, I have stopped watching footy, heh. I don't have a cool reason why I 'picked' them as my team. When I was living in Perth, I couldn't care less about footy (nor sports in general, actually), but when I moved to Melbourne, I found that most Melburnians (most Victorians, really), are INSANE for this game. Everyone have a team (Essendon and Collingwood are probably the Yankees and the Red Sox), so I ended up choosing the Dees because, well, I live in the City of Melbourne, I like their colors, their name, their history, and, well, they were playing well that year without kicking everybody's butts. An Essendon fan once told me that the Demons were an elitist, rich man's club, but you know... That actually wasn't unappealing to me, heh ;D. Unfortunately, they haven't won the Premiership since 1964.
5. Nelsinho Piquet (Nelson Piquet Jr.)
He's such a cutie, isn't he? Hee... Seriously, Ladies, if you wanna see some good looking athletes, check out motorsports ;D. I like Piquet for the simple fact that he's Alonso's new teammate at Renault and is as far away from Lew-Ewww Hamilton as possible. Okay, so he hasn't been doing well this season, and I can't make excuses for him, but, I don't know... I feel for him. I'm actually worried that Renault might replace him mid-season.
I almost didn't want to post these... It's so sad!!! :(
6. Tory Belleci, from Mythbusters
Tory is 1/3rd of the "Build Team," or the younger sidekick hosts to the Mythbusters duo, Jamie and Adam. He's pretty hot for a science geek and he's actually done some pretty cool work for George Lucas and Industrial Lights and Magic, building models for Star Wars and such. Anyway, though I love learning about the myths, the "Build Team" (in particular, the mild flirtation between Tory and Kari) makes it especially fun for me to watch. I can't really say much more on Tory, since this video pretty much explains it all:

7. Juliet/Lassiter, from Psych
I'm very much going against the current, but I was never big on the Shawn/Juliet ship. Obviously, I saw that PTB were dropping anvil-sized-hints going for it, but I just don't see any real chemistry there. In fact, I would say that Shawn has more chemistry with Gus (not particularly slashy, but just that Gus will always be the person who matters most in his life). He's definitely the "bros before hos" type ;D, though he often looked like he was taking Gus for granted. Now, Jules/Lassie, on the other hand... I don't think I need to hammer home the "opposite attracts" angle, which I don't always follow with my ships btw (sometimes, as a matter of fact, I like a ship because the characters are very similar --- Hotch/Prentiss above, for instance). My interest for this ship has been piqued since she brought up the "office romance" thing during a stake-out. I found out later that the context was Lassie's old partner, who was reassigned because they had had an affair, but nevertheless, I thought that was interesting. They had the occasional moments in season one, but I think this ship went sailing --- or at least, tested the waters more --- in season two. From the fact that Juliet seemed to be more and more on his side against Shawn, to the hug, to the rivalry, to the Christmas invite to meet her family, to his slip of tongue of knowing her scent, to the way he gawked at her when she strutted in her new outfit (the camera left the scene with him, not Shawn or Gus), to what I would say was subtle jealousy on Juliet's part when he flirted with the museum curator... I don't know. I really like that these two are developing as an independent pair from Shawn/Gus, so I'm hoping PTB will continue that in season three.
C'est tout!
Okay, so I didn't have to provide pictures, but I thought
alexwhitman25 picked some great interests I haven't really talked about in great length before. If you wannna ask me about 7 other
interests, I wouldn't be opposed to that ;D, because I had so much fun doing this *iz a dork*. And comment, so I can pick YOUR 7 interests :D.
