Went to see
Serenity last night, by myself because all of the people coming out to see have decided to wait until tonight. Fine. Unfortunately, the Tigers game got delayed ... and delayed ... and delayed.
The game ended up not starting until after 11pm when it was supposed to be over long before then. I hit the Coney Island for dinner, had a very nice waitress who asked me about my 28th Fighting Elves t-shirt. I tried to explain but I was listening to the game and kind of distracted. I got to the theatre about 20 minutes early and sat in around the 5th row. I like to be up close for Serenity so I get the full screen experience. Anyway, I was so distracted by the game that I never checked to see how many people were in the theatre. I think a fair number for a Friday night, there were quite a few laughs heard at the appropriate places, and even a gasp heard at the "leaf on the wind" place. A newbie! I only turned the radio back on a few times, mostly during non-dialogue moments.
Got out of the theatre at 2:10 and the game was still going on! Walked home, turned on the TV, still going on! Ninth inning over ... 10th inning ... finally, at 3:30 in the morning with 2 outs in the bottom of the 11th, Guillen hits a 3-run walk-off home run.
That was one hell of a game!
By that time I was reading my writers' flist and one of the writers was having problems gettng the commentary track turned off on Buffy. I popped a disc in to see if it would happen to me, and sure enough -- once you've turned the commentary on, there's no option on that episode to turn it off. With her disc, when she went to the next episode it also had commentary and that one started automatically too. I only had commentary on one episode on the disc I had picked, but I assume she's right. Anyway, if anyone else has that problem, go to an earlier episode on the disc then go back to the commentary one to see if it's still doing it. On mine it reset back to normal. Or try putting in a completely different DVD then go back to the original one. Both should work.
Since I already had the disc in, I watched the next episode in my Buffy rewatch, which was "Checkpoint". Man, I love that episode! So I watched it again.
I wish they had put commentary on that one, preferably with both Jane and Doug since they co-wrote it. And I always feel like cheering along with the Scoobies when Buffy tells Quentin what's what.
Tonight I go to see Serenity again with Lisa, Sarah, Vivian, possibly Mike (it's his b-day!), possibly Allison, possibly another friend of Vivian's. We're going to Qdoba first for premovie dinner (cuz I'm broke). Hopefully the theatre will be packed tonight -- I've already got my ticket.
