The BBC reports in a story today that "The US owes more than $14tn in debt and runs an annual budget deficit of more than $1.4tn." I read elsewhere that the federal budget for 2011 is 3.7tn. The amount being paid for interest on the debt is about 6% of the the budget.Don't know how much of the annual budget is spent paying back its debtors.
