Ants and Fleas and Skunks and Digital Invaders and Dirty floors

It has been just a bit too warm these last few days. Not scorching, but uncomfortable.
I was awake at 4 o'clock this morning from terrible dreams, but also because of the heat. The dreams probably came from the heat.

The dreams seemed to revolve around flea infestation: something that people can get even without inside/outside pets. Seems skunks in the basement would do it...probably any wild animal inside the walls of a house.

We could be in that very situation.

The solution would be: block all entrances to the building and try to find and remove the wild animals. Neither would be easy for us because our basement is also a storage solution for us which I started two decades ago which I need to undo.

There was digital infestation as well. Yesterday there was an inexplicable slow-down of the internet right after completing a transaction to buy an RCA to minature phono plug cable (to connect Marisa's phonograph to her computer sound card). My dream wondered if somehow we let digital invaders in to raid our passwords and other supposedly secure information...and the slow-down was an upload of that information.

After my first cup of coffee, I am decidedly less paranoid about what happened, but still wonder what happened. To address the problem yesterday we power-cycled the modem. It ended the slowness. I do hope there are no repercussions from the incident, but would rather not overact.

Before I sat down to drink coffee I was wiping surfaces to get rid of ants and parts of dead flies. We are going through a fly paper strip every week and the flies keep coming. Our kitchen floor is starting to look more black than white. My office waste basket is overflowing with used facial tissue.

In the light of day, these problems all seem manageable with time and devotion to cleaning and organizing.

On the bright side, Marisa's recent sorting and boxing/bagging of thrift store discards has allowed her to make progress in her room...and we are keeping up on the dishes.
