Back from Eugene, Oregon

Marisa and I got back from Eugene Oregon this afternoon.

We had a small breakfast at a coffee shop there, on the way to Santa Clara where we found nothing of interest in the Goodwill.

A tarp was on the interstate. We ran over it and it "stuck" so we had to pull over. Marisa pulled it out and we kept it. "At least we got a tarp out of the deal," she said.

I went to sleep around 2 a.m. after attempting to watch an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, trying to keep the volume loud enough to understand without being overly loud. When the heater blower came on I had to notch up the volume a bit. I attempted, but missed the very end when a doomsday proton bomb was somehow prevented from blowing up the world. The traitor played by John Cassavetes pushed the button and Admiral Nelson attempted to prevent the trigger from actually causing the chain reaction. When commercial break hit the trigger was not held back but there was not yet a chain reaction. I woke up to see the ending credits.

We were staying at a nice little motel on W. 6th Street...very near the performance venue, Old Nick's Pub at Washington and 3rd.

Marisa and I did the Myrtle Snow and Spalding act. I had lost one of the studs and my pants were too big (I think I have lost some girth during the sabbatical). There was no green room and it was raining outside, so our customs got soggy. Generally we were all disappointed but the performances were great (the ones I saw anyway).

For dinner last night we went to the Cornbread Cafe...great vegan comfort food. I was really happy there!

Interstate travel in both directions was pretty easy and getting around Eugene was good. We got dressed in our motel room, then went to the motel room of the producer's (University Inn on Franklin Blvd.)

Two mistakes:
* When we left in costume I didn't bring our motel room card keys! So when we got back I had to ask for a 3rd card. The night clerk said "It happens."

* After we finished make-up in the producer's room we left the wig box and the makeup bag there, but we went back to the room after the show and would have had to wait for them. One of the card keys was in those bags, but we decided to just go back to our motel instead of waiting.
