Back gutter, phase 1b

Mar 07, 2015 19:35

Continued working on our back gutter to-day. Definitely messed up with the join point. Actually makes no sense to join gutter pieces until you put it up. Forget about using rivets through the junction: will be pulled apart.

I did get all the brackets up.

The right side is definitely wrong now after the left side tore off when trying to re-install it.

So what I will do to-morrow is buy a new right piece, end cap and middle join piece. I will "hang" the new right gutter and cut back the left gutter far enough to join the right gutter with the middle join piece. The join piece will be between brackets. I will put in the end cap last after I am sure everything is sized and added correctly, leaving just enough room at the end for the endcap.

I will also get metal glue and reserve the goopy clear stuff as sealant. I will use the metal glue on the edges of the gutter before final insertion into the middle piece.

I will do everything on the brackets. Cutting the gutter up there will be difficult but I hope to do it only once.

SET worked well: mixed veggies for pennies, half-a-tank of gas, mailed checks for bills on the 1st half of the month, obtained grocery money for this week.

Put out garbage, rolled up most of the weeds from the southeast corner into the compost bin, added home compost and bad food.
