Update

I should update moer often. GPRF was fun and interestingly, the crowds which attend have a majority who have never attended.  This means that I'm constantly meeting new folks who haven't seen me.  This last weekend I got my first time to play with the humans in Tulsa.  It was at the Martin Regional Library and I was surprised at the number of people who came.  Not a huge crowd but quite a lot.   Next place is Wichita Falls, TX still a few weeks away and then over to Arkansas, where I have a beef with Arkansas Fish and Game which allowed a bear to be killed as a nuisance but sent no officer to investigate if indeed the bear in question was a nuisance.  That is not good conservation.
.
The bear hunt continues in Oklahoma.  In five days from the start of the hunt, thehe number of bears killed reported by ODWC is 12 bears.  The very first one was a female and all hunters know that you should avoid killing the females if you want the population to continue to grow.  The first one was perhaps three years old, gotten by an Archer, no cubs, she had not had a chance to yet breed and have cubs.  This is the problem with a quota restricted hunt, bear hunters, eager to get in under the quota, kill the very first bear they see.   In this case, a bear who hardly had a chance to experience life as a bear.

Now to go work with the trees. It is a good time of year to break off older branches and spruce up the woods.  The air is crisp, the smells are golden and the experience, invigorating.
