It'd worked for John Cusack, who said it couldn't work for him too?

Zhang Yixing asked himself this question for the umpteenth time as he struggled to balance his stereo against his collarbone. He'd been silently thanking Jongdae for the post adolescent idealistic (or, to be more specific: hipster) phase he'd been going through as of late. If it wasn't for his weird fascination with junky secondhand stores, he may have never found the thing. It wasn't an exact replica of the one from the movie, but it was close enough for his liking.

Using his free hand to flip the case of the old Air Supply cassette he'd found open, he let out a sigh, watching as it fell at his feet, almost losing the actual cassette in the process. It'd kind of stung him not being able to find any Peter Gabriel but he guessed the guy wasn't as in command for the older set when it came to adult contemporary as Air Supply was. Air Supply, god. Was that going to make it a buzz kill? Don't get him wrong, "All Out of Love" was a good enough jam to attempt and woo someone with but it was nothing compared to "In Your Eyes". That was the ultimate.

He released another sigh, this time more prolonged, as she popped the tape into the stereo, finger grazing the "play" button before holding in his next breathe. This was it - this was the moment he'd been waiting for.

… and that wasn't the song he'd been hoping to play, but it was better than nothing.

It wasn't soft, and it wasn't as "adult" as their other songs that he'd heard in the past, but it seemed romantic enough. It wasn't like she'd be listening to the lyrics, anyway, it was all about the tone. The voice. The voice was the important part; it crooned and maybe it'd make her swoon, like he was hoping. He wanted to woo her, to enamor her - or something like that.

"It's going to work." The words echoed through his mind as he took a step further into her front yard, raising his arms a bit higher to get a better angle at Seohyun's half cracked bedroom window.

He'd been in there a few times before - they were friends, after all, and it was there that he'd discovered her penchant for english language teen comedies (of sort) from the eighties and nineties. Yixing couldn't really blame her, he guessed that everyone had their own "thing". So, he'd watched a few of them - trying to figure out a way that he may be able to score some extra points with her. He'd had kind of a tough time understanding bits and pieces of the movies - considering that they came with the shittiest Korean and Chinese subtitles known to man and no dubbing whatsoever, but he'd been able to manage somehow. If she could do it, he could too (not really, but he tended to lie to himself like that).

As the song hit about halfway through though he begun to grown somewhat nervous. His shoulders tightened slightly and the relatively light stereo started to feel like it was the weight of a small child. Letting out a small huff, he hoisted it more steadily against him before leaning against a nearby tree. She had to be in there, right? Unless she was ignoring him.

"Hey, what's with the noise? It's seven in the goddamn morning!"

Disembodied voice somehow managing to echo itself above the climax of the song, Yixing jolted forward lightly, almost losing the stereo in the process, as his gaze begun to frantically search around for the mouth the words had come from.

It didn't take him long to scope them out though and, when he did, he couldn't say he was too surprise. Her neighbor. That one girl. That terrifying girl. Choi Sooyoung or something. The one who'd pushed his bike into the middle of the street to make room for her and her boyfriend's garbage can. She was… yeah, she was terrifying.

Eyes remaining fixed on Joohyun, eyes bulged and hands latched to her hips from the window of her living room, Yixing slowly turned his focus back to the task at hand. Maybe ignoring it was for the best. Especially considering that that equally terrifying boyfriend of hers had decided to join her. Changmin? Was that his name? He was terrifying too.

… or maybe not.

"I swear to god, if you don't turn that of-…" Her voice was lost in a wave of melody, high notes and beautiful (yeah, he had to admit it, it was pretty good) harmonies as the woman continued to yell at him. He couldn't let her screw this up for him, he was so close and…
Thwack.

----------
Maybe I should have just asked her out for coffee.

The first coherent thought that popped into Yixing's head after regaining conscious stuck with him as he begun to neglect opening his eyes. His head was throbbing. Had he fallen over or something? Or had the stereo turned against him? These questions started to plague him rather quickly - the thought of answering them just making the throbbing wrap around his head a little more tightly. He could save the search for answers for when he was a little more…

"Oh! You're moving!" A lighter, though somewhat distant, voice struck him from above - each word seeming to hit him with a louder decibel before… "Please tell me they didn't concuss you."

It hit him ten fold.

Eyes popping open, Yixing had to restrain himself from shooting up into a seated position - his head wanting to crack at the mere idea. "I'm okay," he mumbled, finally allowing his eyes to open a bit before taking in who that voice was coming from.

There she was - hovering over him like the angel that she truly was and… there he went again, putting her up on a pedestal like his friends told him he'd been doing but it was kind of difficult when she was as beautiful as she was.

"No, really, I'm okay," he continued on, slowly beginning to rise upward, pulling his knees up toward his chest and resting his forehead against his forehead for a moment. Drawing in a ragged breath of air, he allowed himself to look back up at Joohyun, giving a smile of relief. "I think it's just…," he trailed off, raising his hand to touch the rapidly growing goose egg at the side of his forehead. "A bump."

"Well, we can't be too sure," she shook her head, standing herself up in full before holding her hand out to him. "Come on, I'll take you inside and check it out."

Eyes locked on her in wonderment, Yixing slowly brought his hand up to meet her own, lacing their fingers as she gently tugged him onto his feet. Leveling himself into the ground, not without some light wobbling, he sent her another smile. "You're pre med," he replied back stupidly. She laughed.

"I know I am," she smiled back. "Let's go."

"Fight me."
The amused cackles of Howon, Dongwoo and Sungyeol surrounded Sunkyu as he gave a sharp roll of his eyes, just narrowly missing the dead weight that fell at his feet.
"I'm not going to fi-…," the leader cut himself off as a very inebriated Kim Myungsoo wrapped an arm around his ankles. "… I'm not going to fight you, you're drunk, and wha-…, what are you doing? Get off of me."

"You beat me in our game earlier! It's my turn to win, I'm taking back what's mine." Sunkyu continued to stare down at Myungsoo, nothing short of confused, as he continued to claw up his right leg. It wasn't too long before he was going for the left also, cheek mashing against the martial covering his calve.

"I didn't take anything from you and we were just playing Mortal Kombat, for christ's sake, it's not like someone's life was up for grabs," he paused as Myungsoo let go of both of his legs, relief washing over him before a hand slapped across his chest - rather limply, but still with enough force to catch his attention.

"I could have had it all." Sunkyu narrowed his eyes, cringing at the whining tone the visual's voice had taken on before taking a few steps back from him, resisting the sudden urge to laugh as he watched the other take a few stumbles forward.

Shaking his head, he let out a sigh, stepping to the side as the population in the living room begun to shift. The three that had been in the room when everything had started had somehow managed to leave the room without as much of a peep. The maknae was just in time for his own start at departure though - a late night snack at hand, hair mussed from what he assumed was a failed attempt at sleep.

"You take care of him." And, with that, Sunkyu was out of the room, slamming the door behind him before falling face first onto his mattress. He felt himself drifting off into a dreamlike state almost automatically, though not before catching an all too familiar distress call from the other room.

"Myu-… What are you doing?"

"It's totally going to work, I swear to god."

Jieun quirked an eyebrow at her younger friend has they shifted to make extra room for already crowded body parts between various coats in the coat rack. She brushed  the tip of her nose against the arm of a rather ugly coat - almost jolting back at the feel before the hand of her friend reached to the side to stop her.

"You have to be quiet, unnie, they're going to catch us otherwise." Jieun couldn't see Suji too well - but she could tell Suji was shaking her head at her. Jieun was a pretty mischievous girl when she wanted to be - she liked a good prank every now and again, but Suji? Suji had a unique sense of humor; one that she hadn't exactly been able to figure out even after a full two months of time spent on set with her.

"Where'd yo-…," she started, only to be met with hushing of the other. Lowing her voice, "Where did you get this idea, even? From a movie or something?"

"Not exactly. I've been wanting to get back at them for awhile now," Suji whispered back to her, a hand moving forward to pull down the front of a coat a bit further. "I was trying to practice for our last comeback and Taecyeon oppa scared the living hell out of me. Wooyoung oppa was kind of just there but he always is. It's a joint package deal with them anyway."

"What if it doesn't work?"

"It'll work."

And Suji went quiet at a rustling sound from the other end of the room - her hand moving under the jacket separating Jieun and herself to cover her mouth. It took all the strength Jieun could muster not to swat Suji's hand back down to it's rightful place.

"… and I kept on telling him to stop. You're in your early forties, no one's going to appreciate you dancing around like a b-boy in their early twenties. I don't care if he says that Channing Tatum's his "modern age" inspiration. It's just embarrassing, like watching your dad break it down to an Ush…"

A rattle of the leg of the coat rack was all that it took for both Taecyeon and Wooyoung's attention to be drawn away from their conversation. Jieun's breath caught in her throat - not exactly sure if Suji had meant to make any noise or not until she begun to… moan like a ghost.

No. There was no way in hell they were going to fall for that.

"Did you hear that?" Jieun attempted to get a better look at the two older boys - almost falling out from behind her peacoat shied in the process, resisting the urge to laugh when she caught the change in Wooyoung's expression. It had went from blatantly uninterested, to confused and utterly terrified in a matter of five seconds.

"No?" Wooyoung let out, looking as if he was wanting nothing more than to believe there may have been something supernatural in their midst.

"Help me…" Suji croaked out, and Jieun had to admit that it was pretty convincing. She probably would have been shaking in her boots herself is she hadn't been so busy trying not to break into a fit of giggles.

"I told you, man, this place is totally haunted. I saw the ectoplasm when episodes were airing!" Jieun watched as Wooyoung begun to shuffle to the other end of the room toward the front building exit and it was then that she cracked - a booming laugh escaping her lips, following by a firm hit to the arm by Suji.

"Shit," she let out as she fell forward out of the rack, peacoat following her as she crumbled to her knees, arms wrapping around her stomach as her single laugh turned into a heavy fit of giggles.

The two boys were silent on the other end of the room as Suji followed Jieun, a satisfied smile across her lips as she bowed in their direction. "A great performance, I'd say."

"A fantastic one."
