I've been incommunicado for quite a while, working through some personal issues and struggling through the month of September, which is always rough for me. September is in its final hours, now, though. And I'm happy to be able to close the month with some excellent news:
I have a job!!!!!!!!!!
Starting Monday, I am a full-time paralegal for Dennis P. Helmreich, a solo practitioner attorney in Lexington, Georgia. His is a general practice, so I can look forward to variety to spice up my life. I can also look forward to part of my work being criminal defense, my passion in law. Molly is a very happy lady.
I have no idea yet what my salary is going to be. We're going to discuss that Monday morning. Anybody have salary negotiation advice? =-)
In other news, I'm also all set now to begin finishing up my bachelor's degree via Eastern Oregon University's distance education program, starting in January. They offer an Economics/Public Policy major that appeals to me very much, and I decided I would do best to change my major anyhow. (It's been ten years since I had chemistry and physics classes, so I would have to spend at least a year reviewing all that before I'd be ready to take the senior year courses. If I want to earn my bachelor's and get through law school before I'm 40, a year of review is a year I can't afford.)
And my fiction writing has been going alright. The quality suffered some this month, but that's to be expected in a month that's emotionally difficult for me. What's important is that I kept writing anyway, and had a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, every day, from having written something.
Now then... Bring on October! I'm ready for Halloween, my favorite holiday... Muhahahahaha!!!! :-)
