Watched the John Lennon biopic
Nowhere Boy yesterday with T, mainly because we both though Aaron Johnson was so very charming in Kick-Ass and then realized that he was playing John Lennon. He was pretty damn good as Lennon actually, even if the film perhaps wasn't the best ever. Too much kitchen-sink drama and not enough the Beatles? It was well-done, beautifully shot, great costumes and attention to details etc, but I couldn't really care about his family problems. One has heard that kind of story so many times before, and it just made him come across as whiny and young and teenage angsty - which might have been the point? Also, Lennon's relationship with his aunt and mum was played slightly too close for comfort sometimes, but I think that made the film better. I did think that the actor who played Paul was excellent, and I recognized him from somewhere, but where? The ending of the film made me want to go and watch
Backbeat again.
And on that note, it's kind of snowing again!! Or snow-raining at least. Argh. I blame the volcano ash! It was sunny and warm a few days ago.
