Mei didn't really know the extent of the havoc that colds reaped on Jacob, perhaps because he had never had the patience to explain things so simply, but she had been around for a number of other colds, and they all left Jacob in reasonably the same state. Helpless. Which obviously made it her duty take care of him, considering he was her best friend. He was hardly a burden; tending to whatever he needed was the least she could do. She would have had to disagree though. Who in their right mind would want to get away from him? The only person she could think of was that terrible Landon boy, but even he must have had a hard time resisting the irresistible Jacob ( ... )

Why of course he was irresistible! He had many, many friends! More than she did; that much she was sure of. Secretly, she sometimes wished that he wasn't quite so lovable. With all the friends he had, Mei was certain that any of them would assume the role of best friend if he one day decided that being her friend was much too difficult. And really, she wouldn't have blamed him; he had to help her with almost everything and that must have been such a pain in the bottom. That sort of burden gets old rather quickly and they had been friends for two years already; one could only speculate when it would be too much for him ( ... )

Of course he was needed! And all the better that he liked it, because from the look of things, Mei would always need him. She stuck to him like glue from the first day they met and she had not let up at all over the past years. If anything, she grew closer and more dependant on him. Whether that was good or bad could not really be said, but either way, she was stuck to him. Probably for good.

His awkwardness and clumsiness was all in his appeal really. He wasn't perfect, and that made him the "perfect" friend. He was always there for her, and it seemed all he expected in return was her to be there for him. And sometimes, considering he didn't expect her to take care of him when he was sick, he didn't even expect that.

"You already know everything," she consoled, trying her best to make the topic of Physics vanish. It was such a downing subject and he was already sick, as if they needed homework to bog them down any farther. Mei understood that he liked to learn and he loved knowledge, but now was just not the time. It is hard to ( ... )

Perhaps it was in her nature to say nice things simply for the sake of saying them, but it was different with Jacob. He was the smartest person she knew, and he did know practically everything. Was it really a stretch to leave out the word practically? Plus, she knew how he felt about himself, and she was always making a point to hopefully boost his self-esteem. Though apparently, she wasn't nearly as effective as she thought she was; when he dropped the subject she thought perhaps she had convinced him, not that he decided against arguing for their moods' sake.

Mei had nearly drifted off into another one of her dream-like states when he began apologizing. She quickly turned her attention back to him, suddenly feeling horrible. Oh! She hadn't meant to guilt him! It wasn't as if it was his fault that he had gotten sick and he shouldn't have felt like he needed to help her constantly anyway. Just because he did help her constantly didn't make it his job. "Oh," she started, sounding rather lost. It was times like these where she wished ( ... )

Tristian was usually in his room at that time of day on Sunday, but he'd slept rather late that morning, so he'd eaten breakfast rather late. He'd also hung around in the kitchens, talking to the chef. The poor fellow didn't really lead a very thrilling life. All he did was cook for the students.

Well. Cooking really wasn't the most appropriate word. The chef, like everyone else at Xavier's, was a mutant. His power was food. He could pretty much make any food that he wanted to appear, so it was not strange to see students eating Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner or Belgin Waffles for breakfast. He himself had had two eggs, sunny side up and french toast with real maple syrup. One of the many perks of living at Xavier's.

So, when he walked in on Mei and Jacob, he was a little surprise. Jacob was on the floor, and Mei was standing awkwardly over him. "Um, a little mid morning wrestling?"

Mei continued to flounder around, having done all she could think to do but still not feeling as though her job was done. Perhaps she vacuum or pick up the boys clothes, or something. He may have thought her brilliant, but at the moment Mei felt like Life's achilles heel. This was her only way to pay him back for everything he did, and she couldn't even manage to get it right. She smiled softly at him, homing by some marvelous twist of fate, her presence and nurturing had suddenly healed him. Oh, wouldn't that have been spectacular.

After deciphering his next proposal, Mei opened her mouth to argue, but thought better of it. He was ill, and he did need his rest but part of her knew she would forget about the bunny again. Plus, he seemed want to go. Smiling, she nodded, "Okay." At least if she accompanied him she would be there to coax him into lying down for a bit if he needed to. Mei nearly blushed at the thought of walking in and finding Jacob in her bed; or worse, her roommate walking in. She already thought it was rather odd he ( ... )

Tristian watched the rest of the going ons with much amusement. Jacob and Mei seemed to be having a good time, and he couldn't help but feel that he was disrupting something. After all, they probably didn't expect him to just walk in like that. They seemed to be having a private moment, really. A moment that he had just ruined. He smiled awkwardly when Jacob pulled Mei down, his eyebrow raised. Now, he knew better. That was on purpose. Of course, anyone with eyes could see that. It was still funny, though.

He laughed along with the other two and made his way across the room to his bed. He frowned at it, noticing just how messy it really was. Funny that Mei should mention just how messy the two boys were at that exact moment. His bed housed several items, from discarded Sneaker's wrappers, to dirty socks, to his iPod ( ... )

Really, Mei would have joined Jacob in the blushing had she known what Tristian was thinking. It was hardly a "private moment", considering she had only been trying to give him soup. This fiasco that left him shirtless was simply a misfortune, not anything else. Oh, simply entertaining the idea that he was shirtless for any other reason that he had dirtied it would have turned her scarlet ( ... )
