Really, Mei would have joined Jacob in the blushing had she known what Tristian was thinking. It was hardly a "private moment", considering she had only been trying to give him soup. This fiasco that left him shirtless was simply a misfortune, not anything else. Oh, simply entertaining the idea that he was shirtless for any other reason that he had dirtied it would have turned her scarlet.

Also, had she known Jacob thought she "truly loved" Tristian, she would have argued. Or at least, she would've argued if she realized what he was implying by "love". She had perhaps used it once or twice, but it had been on accident. To someone who was learning English, "like" did not mean the same thing as "fancy" and adding an extra "like" to the end did nothing to change its meaning. Love had been the only word she could come up with, and so she had used it. It was a school girl crush really, one that made her rather pink at the sight of him.

At Tristian's question, Mei had nearly answered when Jacob began to. Normally she allowed him to answer any questions posed to the both of them, but he was speaking so poorly that she thought she could do a bit better of a job. As Jacob began explaining, Mei had a seat on the end of Jacob's bed, folding one leg beneath her. It took her ages to decipher what he was actually saying, but when she finally did it warmed her heart. She had been afraid he wouldn't appreciate what she had done, considering it had gone so horribly already.

Mei had absolutely no idea what Jacob said next. She was entirely lost on everything, but as she usually did, she smiled hopefully. She perched herself on the edge of the bed, watching Tristian perhaps a bit dreamily. 'What're you up to?' was what she meant to say to Tristian, but unfortunately she was so caught up in watching him that it came out in very thickly accented Chinese. Bringing her hand to her mouth very quickly, she gasped quietly at her stupidity. "I mean...," she said meekly, not at all sure what to say. "Sorry," she finished, her shoulders rather slumped. Well, it would be interesting to see if things could get worse.
