I am looking for either:

A) A good doctor or rheumatologist that specializes in/diagnoses and treats Fibromyalgia.

B) A pain management/pain medicine specialist that is worth going to and takes Univera Plus Medicaid.

I'm looking for names, reviews, and personal experiences/feedback. Thanks for anyone that can help!

I had Dr. Edgardo Salvador as a rheumatologist. Until he saw me I basically had some mystery condition that no other specialist could figure out, but thankfully he knew what was going on!
He was really patient and knowledgeable. His whole staff is really friendly and understanding of the pain you are going through.
I personally know of someone who currently sees him for fibromyalgia.
Here is his contact information: 3140 Sheridan Dr # 201 Amherst, NY 14226 (716) 832-2920‎

Dr. Gerald Peer for the pain specialist who specializes in pain medication and back problems (but does a lot more than just backs). I see him (for my endometriosis which is a chronic pain disease) and he's absolutely fantastic. He listens to everything you have to say and take your pain issues seriously. The only downside is that it'll take a few months for you to get in to see him, but believe me he is well worth the wait. He literally changed my life. And yes, he prescribes the proper medicine for pain, rather than telling you to just take tylenol and sleep it off. He'll dose you with meds that will actually help your pain problems. I know a few other people who go to him and they just adore him because he actually cares and takes the time to get to know you. When you go back each time he remembers things like what you do for a living, your interests, etc. I've never had a doctor like him and will keep him as my doctor as long as possible ( ... )

Thank you! My old primary doctor mentioned his name to me, but I hadn't heard any personal experiences so I was a little skeptical. I have endometriosis, too- it's good to hear he takes his patients seriously and doesn't just dismiss them with a bottle of Ibuprofen 800. haha Is he a doctor that does random/frequent drug tests? I don't mind taking the tests, I just know there are some pain doctors that will call you out of nowhere and have you go down there to get tested right then and there, and I can't do that as I don't drive/have a car.

You're very welcome. Here's how it played out for me. On my first visit he had me do a lot of weird things... follow his finger, walk on me heals, things like that. I think he was both testing my back (habit) and making sure I wasn't on drugs. But that was it. He has never drug tested me. My first visit he asked me if I'd taken any pain meds in the past that helped and I told him what did work (it as a narc pain killer) and he presribed it to me ( ... )

That is a wonderful reccomentation. I wonder if he would take me without a diagnosis on a condition. No one will listen to me or take me seriously.

I haven't found a great doctor in the area, but I've been to many different chiros/PTs/etc for fibro, myofacial pain, trigger points, some are great and some suck. Also been on/off alot of meds, too. I'd love to have someone to rant to that REALLY understands, too.
