Verizon continues to be a bitch. First, our internet was to be hooked up on the 20th. Then they inform us that it's actually hooked up five business days after our requested hook-up date (thanks for telling me Kevin). So yesterday, we have no internet. Now they say it will be hooked up on the 31st. So John calls and bawls them out; he's told that they are having trouble with the lines and because he's so angry and we both need the internet to do our work, they are taking the dsl off our bill for two weeks (why they were charging us for something we weren't getting before, I dunno) plus we get free internet while we wait... through dial-up. yay! We have joe-turtle internet! Except.... neither of us have a modem. *Other shoe falls squarely on the head* So we're getting free internet, but we can't use it.
Umm... moving does hell to what little organizing I had. I really need to take the time (and a lot of it) and sort things out. And get the rest of my clothes unpacked... today I'm wearing an outfit that I've worn once a week since the week before we moved.
Newest article is not overwhelming me as the last one did, but I'm definitely feeling the time-crunch. I always wait until the last minute - and I always say, never again. Well, here I am. Never again.
People at work continue to look over my shoulder while typing. "Ooh, what's that?" "It's an online journal." "They make those online?! No way!" Oi. There are definitely downfalls to being the youngest person in my department.
My picnic on Saturday went fantabulously. John had the flu so didn't go. I was planning on being home by around 4 or so, figuring three hours for a picnic would be more than enough time for a group of people who are just above stranger status. How wrong I was! I didn't get home until 8pm! We were there for 7 hours, just talking and sharing. L&B found a wonderful little circular area enclosed by trees, with a grill, picnic tables and enough toads, turtles and swings to keep the kids entertained the entire time. I'm really getting a good feel for this group. I find myself opening up more and it makes me feel like I've *almost* found a place where I belong. It's nice.
Shopping spree on Saturday! Going with Lauri to the crystal shop and then up to Moon Beads in Niles. Neither of us have ever been there, but we've heard a lot about it. I'm going to attempt to make my own earrings... we'll see how well that comes off.
Break is waaay over; supervisor is on vacation so while the cat's away, the mice will play! Except her supervisor likes to sneak past and check on me, so I've gotta keep my head down and keep my job.
