The highs and the lows of 3.3

Okay, I know we've already flailed a bit on my last post, but I thought I'd do another 'recap' and and some other thoughts about the rest of the eppy. Because, other than the epic parts, there were some other fun moments and some heartbreaking ones.

So, firstly the wedding. I guess we all pretty much knew it wasn't going to turn out well. There were spoilers leaked earlier in the week that Edith would be jilted at the altar and lots of people bitching about that being very soap operaish and stupid. Despite knowing those spoilers, despite the cliched drama of the scenario, and despite Edith and Anthony being my 2nd OTP and the fact that I desperately did want them to marry, I must admit that the whole thing was really well done and I loved it all. I'm a hard bitch, as everyone knows, and I was blubbering like an absolute baby as Sir Anthony walked away from the church and as Edith cried in her bed. (What was that fantastic line she had? The making you stronger thing. "I don't think it's working with me." Great line.) Robert Bathurst, for a lesser known actor who's had his couple of line guest starring role upgraded over the last few weeks, did a fantastic job. I believed in his performance completely. I believe Sir Anthony was desperately in love with her and he's doing the noble thing. I do hope they get back together, but I don't think it will happen unfortunately. Not when Violet is so against the union. The speed with which she shooed Sir Anthony away! Giving Edith no chance to make him change his mind. *sniff* Now they have to make Edith busy... Poor thing.

BTW, 'Aren't you the wild thing.' Epic Violet is epic.

The other major downstairs plotline this week was the continuing war between O'Brien and Thomas. Gotta admit I'm loving this. I don't know why JF never thought of this sooner. Them doing horrid things and trying to get the better of each other is great fun and leaves all the 'nice' characters alone!

And everyone repeat after me, 'poor ol' Molesley'.

Oh there was also Daisy making eyes at the new footman. *yawn* I know a couple of you like him, but I find him as boring as dishwater. If he continues to be naive and nice, well... that's too much like William for my liking. And if he turns out to be nasty and two-faced, well... that's rather predictable too. *yawn*

And talking of predictable plotlines that we've had before, wtf is the planting of an incriminating substance by Bates's cellmate all about? I mean, we've done the snuffbox hidden in the room plot. MOVE ON. Is this the best JF can do with Bates? Please. *yawn* Why does the cellmate hate him so? He looked at him sideways? *yawn* And what was that in the cot anyway? Tobacco? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?

And as for Anna... My Gods. Yes, yes, Vera was scared of someone... So obvious it was someone else... *yawn* Her Nancy Drew act is wearing oh so thin. Just hurry up and let him out of gaol to give me something else to whine about already.

And speaking of boring and whining... M/M... Just when I think they can't get any more boring they go and outdo themselves. Really, I'm so astounded by the amount of fangirls these pair have, because I think if I watched two flies climbing the wall I'd be more entertained...

Ethel appeared again. Still too briefly. I do like that Isobel went to Mrs H with this info. I was thinking that JF would skim over that plotline, but I'm happy he proved me wrong.

And then there was the C/E moments... OMG I'm still unsure how much my heart can take with my OTP. Pretty much the entire episode left me squeeing. (It was nice for them to get the major storyline, was it not?)

I do have one fret, the worry that she could be lying, that it is cancer, but that she wants everyone to treat her normally and she's therefore not telling. Or that Clarkson again misdiagnosed and she does have it. (Okay, that's two frets.) But I'm going to try and keep calm and call on Carson to sing to me.

Yes, people. He sang. And we all know, thanks to the Bill Adama school of wooing a woman, that singing to a woman means things are totally serious. AND THE WORDS. Yes, the lyrics people! 'SHE STOLE MY HEART AWAY' *swoon*

But let's go back, shall we? SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Carson's fretting throughout the eppy. I mean, seriously, can we love him any more for that? Mrs H's reaction was perfect. 'Damn, who told you!?' I love that Carson was a sneaky little (well, big) thing and tricked Mrs P and Dr Clarkson into pretty much telling him what he wanted to know. I liked how Mrs H and Mrs P were pretty much both resigned to the idea that he'd found out. They just thought it was a matter of time anyway, hey? FOR ONCE, I LOVED CORA. Her reassurance that Mrs H would always be looked after was so sweet. And for once I liked Carson's interfering and telling Cora. Some of the work his way!!!!! FLAIL

And Carson's a hopeless liar!!!!!!!!! LOL That was so great. 'I don't know anything about any illnes...' LMAO

Mrs P was fantastic. She's so trying to set them up together! 'He's a good man.' YES! '...that's quite nice really, isn't it?' YES! 'I prefer to say I put him out of his misery.' YES!

When Elsie goes off to the doctor, and he stays behind, FRETTING, so great. The checking of the watch nearly did me in!!!! I did want him to suddenly turn up in the waiting room, but things were still great without that.

Because we had singing. Singing, people. And Elsie giggling. *Aussie goes to her happy shippy place before she goes to bed*

downton abbey, rambling is what i do, what else to tag?, carson/hughes, thinking too much, get out the popcorn, i'm so frakkin excited, thank you in advance, edith/sir anthony, talking crap, biccies are yummy
