Beware, Dawn! Part 1!

So, I got my tablet cable and I should be working on my commissions but I wouldn't be me if I wasn't a slut for procrastination. Besides, I've learned to never draw when you're not int the right mood because you will produce garbage. At least that's the excuse I'm giving. Anyways, this book is thankfully not by Suzanne Weyn, but by Ellen Miles. I ( Read more... )

lol, never thought I'd bring this up again but the similarities are too close for me not too. Did Nicole Sheridan (from the cheesy softcore porn movies) model for this book? Looks a bit like her but I also see similarities between the actress that plays Cheyanne on Reba ( ... )

Dawn thinking about how kids at school must think she's weird is just more proof that she cares about what people think of her when she pretends she doesn't. Like you said, the thought would probably never enter Claudia's mind. But dawn is always thinking 'Oh, what they must think! They must think I'm weird! And that means unique! I'm so special!' Ugh. I hate Dawn.

That is spot on that the girls at school are wearing make up for themselves but Dawn only did it because she was trying to impress a guy. It just falls under the blanket of Dawn only doing things to impress people. She never does anything for herself. It's always to make people think of her a certain way. I REALLY hate Dawn.

I'm Australian. That phrase mortifies me every time I read/think of it. It's old men and bogans that say 'sheila' and never in my 31 years have I heard a single person say 'bonzer.' I don't think Ann or any of the ghosties have ever been here (or done any research, or met/talked to an Aussie) because the way we are portrayed is so embarrassing :(

I don't know what a bogan is but when you say 'Shelia' is something only old men say, I thought, 'That sounds about right'. It just sounds like something an old man would call a girl. For how much Ann says the Hobarts don't like 'Crocodile Dundee', I think watching that movie was the only research Ann did in writing them. Hell, she probably just watched the trailer.

They decorated their house with Koalas and safari hats, I'm sure.

" the kids at school probably think she's weird because sometimes she wears non-matching earrings. Dawn? The kids at SMS grew up with Claudia Kishi. She watched Zoolander and thought Derelicte sounded like a great fashion line and made a dress out of a trash bag ( ... )

Yeah, I never liked Mel either. I mean, I get that he was 'troubled' but he was still an asshole. And who wants to read about assholes? Well, apparently young girls because this series sold and everyone in it is an asshole.

Omg. I may have to make a comic out of your 'Jeff is on fire' line.

Was there another book with this plot? Did Norman really say that? If anyone knows, please tell me which one it was so I can snark it!

I believe it was the B plot in the Fire at Mary-Anne's house. Which truly is an unsnarkable book, and the A plot was pretty darn well written and good. The B plot was pretty hysterical though.

I looked up the word and it's actually bonza sheela and the origin is Irish, also the word is archaic which means no one even uses it anymore .Which just shows that Anne is way behind the times.I would believe it more if Ben called Mallory a fit bird, though I know that term is more British , but does anyone use it in Australia .

"That said, the perspective is all fucked up. Either that or that envelope is friggin' huge. I like the hazy Vaseline on the camera lens the left side has too. Gives it that nice softcore porn quality ( ... )

"Dawn thinks this. She would never be mean to someone she was friends with! She would never scare the living daylights out of a friend! She would never write the world's worst hate poem about someone she cared about! She would never get all her friends to turn against her best friend because she got a haircut! Mean?! Dawn doesn't even know how to spell it! I see you, Ellen Miles, you ain't cute ( ... )

"Dawn gets in a nice bitchy remark when she says Stacey knows how to apply make-up, unlike the hos at school who look like 'they should be on a stage under bright lights!' Which when you think about it makes no damned sense. Is she saying the look like Broadway actors? But Broadway is in New York! Capitol of cool! Why not compare them to clowns, you clod? That would make sense. What you did was a backhanded compliment. Jesus, not only is Dawn a sociopath she's fucking stupid ( ... )

To show she's a fun sitter, she has them play Let's All Come In because pleasing Nyogtha, The Thing Which Should Not Be, is always the top priority in the 'Brook. David M is like 'That sucks donkey balls' and because Nyogtha, The Thing Which Should Not Be, must be pleased, Dawn says they'll make it fun rather than come up with something they all enjoy in the first place ( ... )
