Well, I hope everyone had a fun Memorial Day weekend...and I hope that those of you who are studying your asses off, got to take at least a little break and enjoy the long weekend.

Even though I had a lot of fun this weekend, it was kind of bittersweet, since some of the people I have gotten closest to at UMKC graduated on Friday.  I thought Robin Kamal (whom they called "Robert" at one point, way to go UMKC) had a good speech, it started off with a "ten things I learned in Med school" thing that was filled with inside jokes that was probably lost on a lot of people.  The speech ended with a "mastercard commercial" type thing that was really cute.  Dr. Wooldridge's speech was alright I guess; I think he was trying a bit too hard to be funny, and he tried to talk about everything from where they are all going, friends, family, finances, etc...too disjointed for my liking.  I think if he had stuck to one topic, it would have flowed better.  I do like that he did a shout out to Dr. Reid Smith.  I was very happy to see my friends from Green 7 get hooded, but it won't be the same without them here.

That night, we went over to the Levee, where they were having a party for three of the graduates.  I don't really know them too well, but one of the guys sang the national anthem and the alma mater at the ceremony and he was awesome. It was kinda weird since we were kinda crashing their party, but eventually all of the other 6s starting arriving, so it ended up being really fun.

Sat, I spent the afternoon with my senior partner, Cheri, at River market...had some awesome Jordanian fare at Habashi House there--I highly recommend their hummus.  I can't believe that I'm not going to have a senior partner anymore, and that I'm going to be a senior partner in August.  That is fucking nuts.  She's moving to the OC, where I'm from, so I tried to give her some tips about where to go and where to eat...she'll have a good time there.  That night, we went out to Tomfooleries with some of the year 6 crew...Ashwin was leaving the next day, so we made it a point to meet up with all of them for one last time.  As a parting gift, I gave him Sufjan's Illinoise, since he is going back to Chicago.  Hopefully he listened to it on the way there.  I am going to miss the both of them a lot.  Clinic will not be the same, and I really mean that--you can't replace those two.

I saw Pirates on Sunday, and it was a lot better than the second one, which I suppose is not really saying that much.  Johnny Depp is once again amazing as Capt Jack.  I adore him.  I totally cried at the end of the movie, it is just very sad.  Brandon thinks it was too long, but I seriously could watch pirates all day long.  Keith Richards made his cameo, but I won't give any of that away.

We had a small BBQ yesterday at Brandon/Steven/Matt's house--it was enjoyable.  A lot of people whom I haven't seen in like forever came by, so that was nice.  We had dogs, burgers, boca burgers, and an assortment of chips/dips/hummus and watermelon, well stocked to celebrate Memorial Day.
