i have to do it. i just have to.

a valentine's entry...even though it's not valentines day yet; but it is approaching fast.

Valentine's Days and I have always had a LOVE/HATE relationship.

When I was in elementary, I had these dreams of receiving a special valentine's day card from somone oh so cute, because let's face it, in elementary boys are cute and not handsome. But no special valentine card ever came...

In the 6th grade my "boyfriend" and first "Valentine" was given a Valentine's day gift from me. I wasn't given one from him. He broke up with me 3 days later.

Eh, I'm still in high school so I won't even go into the past 2 years quite yet. However, I don't brushing the service of this year's valentine day season.

I have no Valentine, flat and simple. Does that bother me? Maybe a little. Maybe even a little bit more once the day is actually here and I have to be exposed to the cutsey couples exchaing their red and loving gifts.

I am a bitter girl.

However, does Valentine's Day necessarily have to be considered special because of a LOVER? What about friends, we love friends, don't we?

I love my friends. So if on Valentine's Day, I have only my friends to hug and say I love you to, I will be perfectly ok with that. I might even try to give gifts in some way or another...that's if I can find money to do that. Fucking money.

Dear Valentine's Day,
You will arrive for your yearly visit tomorrow night at 12 a.m. I will greet you with a, "Hello, how are you this year?" and you will reply with your response. Maybe I'll celebrate your arrival with a chocolate chip cookie. I hope that this year we can love each other instead of hate. Last year we did not cheerish each other's time together as much as we should have. I'm willing to work at this relationship with you. I like what you stand for. A day for love. I like love. Love is good. I like chocolate covered strawberries so if maybe you could talk Cupid into striking at least one person to give me one that'd be nice. At least one hug would be cool too. But you know what, you deserve something too. I'll try to do a Sun Dance so that the day can be bright and warm for your yearly visit. How would you like that? The coreography will start tonight. I'll walk outside into the bright sun and smile. My Valentine's gift to you, Valentine's Day will be a smile. And happiness. I'll be happy for you this year Valentine's Day.

LOVE always, Julia L. B.
