The heat.  Yes, I know, it only got up to the mid-thirties (°C) and we had the benefit of some sea breezes, but that was hot enough for us.  Particularly as the temperature didn't seem to drop that much overnight.  Yay the electric fans!  Yay also the British Summer being 'three or four days of HEAT, then thunderstorms.

On Tuesday last week the schedule said 'Llandudno, Conwy Valley Railway & Betws-y-Coed.  The forecast said, 'Clear skies, blazing sunshine, hot, wear sunscreen, hats and stay out of the midday sun.'    Being English we hadn't prepared for that - we'd taken shoes and waterproofs, it's northwest Wales after all.  Ah well, we wouldn't be out in it ( Read more... )

Hot & Stinking

News this weekend - a farm near Guilford was found to have Foot & Mouth.  Banning order promptly slapped on all bovine, ovine, & porcine animal movements.  Animals from aforementioned farm all killed & disposed of.  Farming community starts to worry!  & who could blame them?  F&M in 2001 was terrible - though whether that was the ( Read more... )
