Wool Gathering
As the general reaction to posting lies to spice up today's blog (see yesterday's blog) was unfavourable try this. . . which did happen. I'm growing the scabs to prove it!
I finished the second (obvious fault free) pair of Stilton Socks last night, no special pictures. They look like the others, but without the glaring mistakes. So, not wanting to be left knittingless, & it being lunchtime (& still too warm for scarf knitting) before I was ready to move far yesterday, I decided to forego PAInT & visit our excellent local wool shop. On foot.
Which may have been a mistake. Crossed over the main road near here, caught flip-flop on kerb & landed heavily on the pavement! Clumsy! (NB: Falling off my flip-flops is a lot less painful than falling off Val!) Pause to collect self, make sure letters don't blow away, assess damage - grazes to L elbow & knee & R ankle. Thank goodness I was wearing a long-sleeved denim shirt! RESPECT to the white haired guy who, on seeing me fall, pulled up on the opposite side of the road & crossed over to check I was OK.
Was I OK? Yes, thanks. Would I like a hand getting up? No, thank you. Think I'll sit here & collect myself a bit. There's a walk-in treatment centre just round the corner if you need it. Thanks. (Got the impression he'd have offered to take me round there if I had) & thanks very much for coming over to check I was ok. So, having ascertained I thought I was ok, he crossed back over the road & drove off. There are still Good People out there! I know that, but it's nice to have it demonstrated.
Licked wounds (you try that with yr elbow!), checked they were fairly clean & not bleeding, hauled myself to my feet & continued. It's quite a pleasant walk up through the Council Cemetry, lime tree avenue down the central 'road', grey squirrels waiting to mug you for nuts . . . Not so pleasant up the next road to the wool shop, but there was a good breeze (otherwise it would have been uncomfortably warm). Came away, quickish before I spent more, with 5 balls of sock yarn:- some in navy/rust/caramel/cream randomish dye (reminded me of a school tie, or blazer, so I know what I'm doing with that), some in brown/beige/buff/cream combo (pattern also assigned), & some in pink/purple - which I might just knit up for myself. Then ambled back again, picking up a "Silver Queen" thyme plant en route.
I'd borrowed the DVD of "Seabiscuit" from the library this week. Having sprayed Savlon on my contusions I watched that, knitting the meanwhile. After all, I was only resting my knee really! Then last night I finished the Stilton sock with the graze on my left knee tingling & my tinnitus providing the soundtrack!
Sorry,
huckleberrybud, swimming is off til things heal up a bit more.
Y'all have a good, & careful, day now!
