yesterday

Yesterday was my cousin Scott's baby shower. It was fun and boring all at once. Not to mention before and after, Fred's mom was a bitch.

We've known for months about this shower. She knew she'd have to drive us. So the shower is from 1-4, and it's around 11, and I head downstairs to take a shower. Well Christine comes up to me and snaps "we're leaving at 11:30, I have to get gas." ooookay....if there was any sort of water pressure in this house, I could have done a really fast shower, but there is none. It takes forever to shower in this house. So I brush it out, look at how nasty greasy it is, and hope that Trent takes all the attention away from my hair. The trip up, I just stared out the window the entire time. Christine had the radio pretty loud, and she only uses the back speakers, so I couldn't contribute to a conversation if I wanted to. We get to the Natick VFW and as we're getting out of the car, Scott is arriving with Laura (preggo girl)

A Pause in this story.

We brought Trent's unused Newborn sized diapers, because she wouldn't drive us to get them a gift. We had no gift bag or wrapping paper. We did get a cute card, threw $40 into it, on one $20 we wrote DIAPERS on it, and WIPES on the other.

Play!

So I have all the wipes in my hand, Fred has Trent and Trent's backpack (we use a back pack, not a diaper bag) and we're looking around to see if there's anyone we know. I see my mother, my Aunt Marion (remember her?! the "Leave Fred!" Aunt? yeah.)her daughter Andrea, my mother's cousin Sue (Sue's the shit!), my mother's Aunt Marilyn who refuses to talk to my mother, my Grandma, and Sue's mother Betty Ann. We went inside and greeted them all later. Trent was still sleeping so when everyone we knew came over to look at him they were all amazed that he was sleeping (there were TONS of people there) so we just stood around for a while, all while my Grandma hovered around us and begged us to sit with her. We claimed we wanted to stand because of the long car ride and let her table fill up. Bad, I know. We ended up sitting with my mother, Aunt Marion, and Andrea (just to rub it in that Fred's an amazing dad XD) and 4 of Scott's friends and an almost 1 year old little girl (holy shit she was cute) Marilyn's daughter Laura was there, she came over and checked out Trent, talked a little hockey, talked to me about skiing (she was the last person I went skiing with YEARS ago) Then Scott and Laura started opening presents. They didn't really announce what they got from who, which hey, I'd rather, especially with my shitty little gift. About halfway through the presents, they took a break for food, Trent was awake by then, so I went back to Sue and all them who wanted to see Trent when he was awake and they all drooled over our handsome little man. Mary Kay, Scott's mother/grandma to be, paraded Trent around for at least a half hour, Scott held him a few times all while saying "I can't wait...I can't fucking wait for mine!" was really cute. Trent was the biggest flirt ever. The more people around him, the bigger he'd smile hahaha. So after a while I had some chicken wings (Scott's dad Jeff made them, I could tell XD sooo goooood) and some meh lasagna. Then every one just kinda hung out. Almost everyone we knew held Trent. He looked HUGE in Andrea's arms. We let her sit down and old her. She's in 2nd grade I believe...whoever old you are when you make your 1st communion haha. (omg this is taking me so long to write, so many interruptions anywho) Then around 4, everyone started heading out, we waited for Christine to come get us, when I got into the car I realized that it was going to be a looooooooooong ride home. She was a mega bitch. At one point Fred was on the phone with his dad. The radio was down so I could actually hear Fred. I guess his dad mentioned the 3 of us going to Everett to visit them for a weekend sometime, Fred agreed at some point and Christine immediately started bitching that she'd be the one stuck driving us. Without missing a beat Fred was like "would you just calm down? Jeez" and back into talking with his dad. When he got off the phone with Rich, Christine opened her mouth to start to say something when Fred started ripping into her. One, it was his conversation, two, Rich offered to come down to pick us up, three she's said for months she'd teach me to parallel park (the only thing really keeping me from taking my road test), and four we have a car, we need money to get it as safe as we wanted it. Needless to say she shut up.

We get back to the house and it was full of smoke. I guess she told Ray to preheat the oven for her, and he left a dirty pan in there, so now I know there are no working smoke alarms in this house, and we had to freeze our asses off with all the windows and doors open, fans on high, all while waiting for the smoke to disperse. Ugh. Fred and I order out because obviously she wasn't going to bother to cook. When we were about to head upstairs, I was in the process of cleaning off the coffee table when she comes in and sits down next to me. I auto think that she's going to bitch that we ordered out and there would be a mess so I just say "Yeah, I'm cleaning it up." and she just looked at me "you're looking at me like I'm a crazy bitch" thank the gods for a brain filter. I amazingly didn't just burst out what was my first thought, which of course was, ha...ya think? Doesn't begin to skim it" but she had me dvr the celebrity apprentice and was asking how she could be sure it recorded and how to watch it. I picked up the remote and told her press My DVR, you don't even have to press crazy buttons, just hit OK/SELECT because it will already be on My Recordings, tell her to scroll to celebrity apprentice, click OK/SELECT again, and it will play. She got confused. Ughhhhhhhh. Then we went to bed and I was pretty much up all night again.
