I didn't get to watch P&R completely so I only got some of the April/Ben storyline to fangirl about. Ben my beautiful "Human Disaster" actually wanting what's best for April and then April actually making that other intern do his job; granted she told him she would eat his eyes but it's a start. People thinking he was her dad. Leslie sending him 12 boxes!
Jess and Nick is something I don't know how to feel about. I'm like YES! KISS! and then I'm like NOOO he's not right for you in the romantic setting but more like BFFF. And now I want to know what future author of Z for Zombies Nick Miller does to Jess!
Ben wanting the best for April and her threatening the other intern was the greatest!!!!!! I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy their storylines in D.C. this season.
haha, I completely know what you mean! Like, they have such great faces and chemistry and I keep wanting to yell at them to make out, but then their dynamic and the dynamic of the whole group is so great as it is that I don't want anything potentially screwing that up, and the show just makes me so happy that I don't want anything potentially angsty! Which is why I think I want it to happen like years and years in advance so even if them getting together does screw up the show I can just rewatch the early seasons and pretend it never happened. (I may have thought this through already.)
Yeah, considering how much focus there was in season 1 about Quinn's ~mysterious past or whatever, and considering how much I really didn't care for her last season, I was really hoping the reveal would be interesting, but it was so boring. But Olivia's involvement should be interesting, at least, so I am looking forward to that bit. That's really disappointing about Henry Ian Cusick! I had no idea he wasn't going to be on the show anymore.
ugh, I know, right? She just doesn't seem to listen at all, it's awful.
I thought the comedy parts of the Leslie A plot were done well (I laughed so hard when that lady said it was child-sized because it was the size of a small child if the child were liquified, and seeing Leslie with the absurdly large cup on her head). The politics of it were weird to me. Like. How would Leslie feel if one of her fellow council people proposed taxing waffles for the sake of public health? It felt like a weird issue for her to latch onto given her own personal food philosophy (it felt weird in "Sweetums" too, but then also seemed more like Ann's campaign). If she cared so much about what people were eating why did she hate Sue's Salad's so much? Anyway, I liked that it afforded us time with Ann/Leslie and Leslie/Ron

Yeah, there were definitely some really amusing bits, like what you mentioned, but the politics I still just don't know. Like, I do feel like it should be consumer choice if they want to drink that much, but it also didn't seem like there were any smaller options so that element of choice was removed, so... idk!!! But at least despite the politics part not completely working for me, there were some great character moments, and I still did really like that the show didn't give Leslie an easy out and she did have to make a choice in her vote, even if I might not agree with it

I felt kind of the same way about the soda issue on Parks. I'm not sure how I feel about it? That's a thing here in NYC so I've been hearing a lot about it lately too. In theory it seems like a good idea, but at the same time it feels awkward to say you CAN'T do something. However it is also true that if you really wanted more soda you could just buy two, no one is literally banning you from doing so...they're just regulating the size. You know, because most people don't ever really think about it that much and will just buy what's available. Sometimes at the movies I ask for a medium and it's like THE BIGGEST SODA I'VE EVER SEEN. And I'll drink it because you know...that's what they gave me. But 90% of the time I'm not looking for a big gulp, that's just what they had

Yeah, I heard about the soda thing in NY, and this storyline seemed to definitely be nodding to that, and it's like... I can't disagree with the principles behind it, but it just doesn't seem very effective and I do think people should be able to make that choice for themselves. But oh yeah, movie theater drink sizes are the worst. I worked at a movie theater when I was 19 for a few months, and people would always give me incredulous looks when they saw the small because... it's not even close to being small
