How your baby's growing: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is probably almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers - which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born - are filling her out, making her rounder. Her central nervous system is still maturing and her lungs are well developed by now. If you've been nervous about going into preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that 99 percent of babies this age can survive outside the womb - and most have no major long-term problems related to prematurity.
I had my last appointment with Dr Boone today and it was kind of sad, but also kind of scary because when I start my appointments with Dr Adam (the week after next) I'm to be going every week which means my delivery date is VERY close! Eep! Anyway, everything was fine with me and baby. I'm measuring close to 36wk, I've gained about 4lbs since my last visit but I've had a lot of swelling so I think that's mostly fluid, my urine was clear of protein and my BP was 130/70. Baby is head down and has dropped a bit and the heart rate was 150. Dr Boone said I don't need to be too concerned about the decrease in movement lately as I've been up and about doing lots and probably just haven't noticed it. She also said that the swelling is normal and I don't really need to be concerned about that since my BP and urine have been fine.
On to a night shift tonight and I'm really tired. I think I'm going to have to lay down for a little while after supper and try and get a little snooze in or else it's going to be an extremely looooong night.
Phoned mom today to wish her a happy birthday and saw that I got a really nice card from her too. The verse was so sweet it made me cry! I wish I could have been home for this birthday and now that I'm working Easter weekend, it won't be until after the baby is born for sure until I get to go home again :( Oh well, at least I'll have a little someone to bring back with me!
