First of all...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! I've been spoiled :) I came home from clincal today with 7 messages and half a dozen emails wishing me a happy birthday! Jeff met me at the hospital and we went out to Keystone Kelly's for a late supper which was yummy! Then to Walmart to spend my gift cards. I managed to find a couple of comfy nursing bras and picked up some groceries.
Preceptorship was crazy today. We went to an inservice on the new medication policy that was boring as hell! Then came back to a retarded afternoon. Blah. One patient is a drug seeking moron, another is just a pain in the ass, another running into some fluid overload troubles and keeps pulling the condom catheter off and wetting on the bed, a new admission and someone waiting to be discharged. Top that off with pharmacy being dinks and not sending all our meds and a resident who has decided to give mr. drug seeker free range of all the narcotics he wants. Ugh. So needless to say, I'm very glad today is over.
Last night when I got home, Jeff had given my my birthday gift (The Incredibles!!!) and we sat and watched that. I so love that movie. If you haven't seen it, go see it!
The highlight of my birthday would have to be the sweet email I got from my brother today while he's on his trip to Toronto :) Sometimes it's hard to judge Corey's emotions so it was really, really, really nice to get a little note saying happy birthday and that he thought to get me a gift. He seems to be having a good time and loving TO. Hopefully he'll be able to find a school he likes and get accepted there if that's what he wants to do.
Oh yeah...I got a job! I met with the nurse manager on our floor yesterday and she said she can hire me into a casual position for whenever I want to start. I'm thinking the end of August/first of September would be a good time. It'd give me a few months off with baby and I'd be back and making money in time to start paying for my student loan. She also said that if a part time position came up before I started, she'd hold it for me and I could just get into that. And, she said that there will be lots of temporary full time positions coming up very soon as all the girls on 4SE and a lot of them on 4SW are trying for babies :) So needless to say, that made my day yesterday!
Other than that, I'm just tired. I think baby has dropped because my pelvic bone is achey and I seem to have a lot of lower abdomen pressure. And, I can breathe a little bit better. The 2nd year students were here doing their prenatal visit the other day and she said that she had read somewhere that once baby drops, it's usually 4-6 weeks until baby arrives. My GOD that seems so soon! But, tomorrow I'm 34 weeks so I guess I better get used to the idea of little one being here soon! Last night I had the most vivid dream about having a baby boy. Jeff was quite pleased :)
So yes, as I said...I'm tired. And now I'm going to bed! I have my last appointment with Dr. Boone tomorrow and then starting the week after next I go every week. Eeep!
