Story of the Hour!!!
First let me start off by saying this short story was very confusing at first I did not know if the husband was really dead or if she was just dreaming of him being dead. Once after finally realizing that she was more so day dreaming about her husband being dead, let me know she was not a happy wife. In my opinion any women or anybody in that matter who day dreams of their spouse dying needs to leave the relationship IMMEDIATELY! The writer express that the lady said she was free which meant her husband was very controlling and probably abused her physically and mentally. Which if you ask me says a lot about both people, he was a weak male for the simple fact that he has to abuse someone else to make himself happy. And she was just as much at fault as him for putting up with the ignorance. In class you all seemed to disagree with me and think that this story was just an example of a dominant spouse in the relationship. In todays world that is unacceptable no one should over power the other or expect more out of anyone, everyone should and needs to put in equally. But hey that is just my opinion (coming from a very independent and open minded female.) Anyways the end of the story shocked me, how she died of joy. Lol yeah she died of joy because she was happy that she no longer had to deal with her husband anymore. Depending on your beliefs she could be going on to a life after death to be happy or thats just it and she is dead. Everyone interpretation of the ending may be different .
