Forever 21 just opened its first store in the Philippines. I'm not interested, and it's not just because of the long lines (30 minutes to enter, and an hour to pay). Their stuff's relatively cheap, all right, but a lot of them also look and feel it, so I really have to see a lot of the clothes myself before buying...although I once got a pair of jeans on sale for $6, and that was a pretty decently made pair. The prices here aren't far removed from those in the US, but I'm still not willing to pay $20 for a sheer tank top that everyone else has too.
While I balked at spending over $20 at Forever 21 or H&M (another boutique that's on its way here, but I'm meh about) last Christmas, I didn't hesitate over dropping $140 on NBA stuff online last night.
Yes, they're the Pierce and Rondo shirts I've been harping over for weeks. Instead of waiting for someone to come from the US to Manila, I looked into those forwarding options, and
duckyyy was generous enough to offer her
my-ShoppingBox.com account to me, so I won't have to pay the $25 membership fee. Then again, if you buy online from US sites a lot, $25 a year is a good deal, plus $5.50-8.50 per pound.
I'd initially wanted to wait for my aunt to ship over a cargo box, but I feared that the Finals shooting shirts wouldn't be offered for long-in fact, the NBA.com store ran out of Rondo shirt sizes, and so I was forced to buy my brother's medium shirt from the Celtics.com store, which oddly doesn't stock the Pierce shirt in small for me. I've had to buy from two separate merchants then. Dammit, why is Rondo so popular now. =P
Besides, my brother pointed out it'd be cool to wear those shirts to college basketball games-where a good chunk of people would recognize the players and shirts. ;)
I considered getting a my-ShoppingBox account for myself, but I fear that'd encourage me to shop online more often. Having my own credit card is dangerous enough. =)

- Next concern: how to get the new Manic Street Preachers album. The digital music store I discovered now blocks non-UK credit cards. Crap. And I don't think the US is going to get a simultaneous release. I don't want to have the album shipped from Amazon UK anymore, because I don't want to give the customs people here any more of my money. They can go burn in hell.
The first time I listen to a new Manic Street Preachers album, I have to own the copy, whether physical or digital. I just won't settle for a torrent. That would be sacrilegious.
I just pray that Postcards from a Young Man won't let me think, "Well, Send Away the Tigers wasn't so bad after all," especially after the brilliance that was Journal for Plague Lovers.
And technophobe Nicky Wire has
discovered Twitter, and he now just won't shut up, hahaha.
- When we were in Cebu, my friends were in awe of my navigational skills in a strange city...when in truth, I would just follow the crowds! My dad would've rolled his eyes, because my muck-ups got us lost on
our way to Conan. =P
- One more thing about Toy Story 3...whenever Big Baby would appear, we would say, "Glen Davis!"
- Go, Netherlands. ;)
Need: To have three pairs of shoes repaired
Want: New shoes anyway, haha
Have to: Curb on the sugar intake. Seriously. I feel fat. Or maybe it's just my PMS.
Miss: Friends
Adore: Four more years of that pretty smile. =) *points to icon*
Love: Having a debit Mastercard with a US address. I can't have a US credit card, since I don't have a SSN, but our banking manager's snicker hinted that we might be able to get credit cards anyway.
Hate: PMS and all the symptoms that come with it. Especially zits. Gargh.
