Point of view

I'm writing from a hotel room in the town of Vänersborg. I spent the day in another town (Halmstad) and when I booked my evening's travel from Halmstad to Vänersborg I sighed. The only way to get between these two towns just now is to take a short train ride followed by a long bus ride. A long day. Followed by a long ride on a freaking bus. Sigh.

I boarded the bus and settled in, happy to find, at least, that the bus wasn't crowded so I got a two-seater to myself. We rolled out and I sat staring out the window, trying to get all of the workstuff out of my head, trying not to be too irritable about having to be on a freaking bus. Sigh.

Maybe it was a magic Christmas bus...

We passed a couple of hundred gingerbread houses with candles in the windows (in December almost every house has lighted candelabras in the windows). Fresh white glittery gleaming snow on the streets, on the sidewalks, on the houses, on the trees. It was absolutely lovely and I am SO GLAD I was priviledged tonight to ride the bus for a nice long relaxing time. Contented sigh.
