Four day weekend. Always a Good Thing™.
Yesterday was a quiet day at home spent with James Bond on the telly and a pizza.
Today is Day Two of the SyFy James Bond movie marathon. Yesterday we started the day with Octopussy (one of the worst Roger Moore excrescences) but today we’re starting with Goldfinger (one of my favorites!). And we’ve got Sean Connery and Daniel Craig on the menu. Nummy!
I’ve been slowly, but surely fixing the annoying configuration problems on my laptop. Last week, with help from Helpful QA guy, I figured out at least one of the problems that I’ve been having with our source control program, Git. I have two user accounts in Windows (local and a network domain) and my encryption key was only associated with one of them. It looks like Git occasionally uses the name without the encryption key and then would fail to connect to the server because it didn’t have the key. So that’s fixed now.
But my database still crashes when I shut down. The user name that owns the database doesn’t have permission to start the DB service. One of our network servers went down during the week the other day, and I got a new error message. This time it mentioned group permissions. So I added the DB owner to the Administrator group. The DB still crashes when I shut down, but at least I can restart it now without uninstalling and reinstalling. And since before I couldn’t backup the database to save my data after a crash, this is a Very Good Thing.
Finally, our damn parking lot resurfacing is finished! They’re painting the stripes between the spaces on Monday and Tuesday.
