I’m afraid James Bond has eaten my brain.
I’ll admit, the idea of writing a Bond script has been kicking around the back of my brain ever since 2004, when I walked out of Van Helsing saying to myself that movie was NOT the action hero role that I wanted to see Hugh Jackman play. And started thinking about writing a Bond script just for Hugh.
Last year I picked up some of the Ian Fleming novels and read some of the short stories over the winter. I’ve pulled them off the To Be Read stack and plan to get back to them as soon as I finish up my re-read of the Her Royal Spyness series.
Sunday, while discussing Skyfall with
ravena_kade I realized that I’d already done half the analysis I needed to come up with a good villain. And now my brain won’t stop cogitating on that. On the drive in to the office yesterday I wrote an entire scene in my head. (And got it written down as soon as I got to a computer). After work last night I went to see Skyfall again. And it was just as good the second time around.
I think I’m going to have to make myself a Bond icon this weekend. Until now, this one will have to do.
And reading the media coverage of 50 Years of James Bond has been fun too.
James Bond costs infographic Bond, The Nymphographic There will probably be a spoiler-filled Skyfall review after work. At the very latest, tomorrow.
