In The Driving Seat of Life?
It's funny, a little while ago -- I think in March -- I said I was gonna cut back on social activities and going out and the like over the next following months to save money and sanity and such...and yet the funny thing is that the entire OPPOSITE has happened, yet I've still saved money! :) I mean I've been working a lot on a second job to bring in extra income, and it's beginning to pay off (get it? pay off? hahah, I crack myself up). If I keep saving money, working hard and so on, I'll have more than enough money for Comic Con as well as the hopefully-released-by-July-so-I-can-leave-Verizon Helio Ocean 2.
I just think it's funny that, whereas I planned for life to slow down for a spell and such, life has grabbed my by the balls and said "HELL NO, bastard, you're movin'! You got stuff to do!" I mean, June ALONE is busy as hell. There's WalkenFest 08, THREE Can't Stop the Serenity screenings -- one of which I'm in charge of -- plus all the social activities that keep popping up, let alone an active dating life. I'm actually proud of myself that in spite of all this activity, I'm still attaining my goal of saving money. How the heck am I doing that? Most of it is Quicken, I believe, and knowing exactly what I can and can't spend money on. My purchases of totally useless crap like DVDs and such has dropped dramatically to almost nothing, which I'm quite happy with, and helps with saving since the amount of money I've been spending on gas, food and entertainment has gone up. Ah, the joys of being a social firefly. ;)
So what's the point of all this rambling? I just think it's neat how, even when you think you make a plan for yourself, life and fate (or whatever you happen to believe in) pulls you where it thinks you need to be while still allowing you the freedom to attain your personal goals. I'm not complaining at all, in fact I'm happier than I've ever been, I just think it's funny and interesting.
