Easter Sunday

Since it's Easter today, me and my family ended up visiting a cathedral over in Naka-ku for Easter mass this morning. It may sound like a strange thing to most on my friends list except maybe anyone from St. Rudolph since they're used to being surrounded by that kind of environment. Christianity isn't exactly a common thing in Japan. But it is in Brazil, and Okaa-san herself is Catholic. She tries to visit a church on the major Christian holidays, like Christmas and today, and she also figured Noé would've liked to see a Japanese church. So we all agreed to go with her for the holy holiday's service too, since it sounded interesting and I like it when the bishop there tells the Easter story and because Okaa-san would've given us her disappointed look for a week if we didn't go. Akaya and Bunta were with us also. I was kinda worried they might've gotten bored with it. Or put off by all the stuffiness. Or confused by what they were talking about or doing. Or bothered by the little old ladies with the rosaries that kept trying to lecture them about becoming devout young men who love the Lord. >>;
Despite all that, I thought it was a nice experience, though. There was a lot of story-telling and singing. I always believed Okaa-san had a really beautiful singing voice, ever since the days when she used to sing lullabies to me when I was a little boy. And it was nice getting to listen to her sing all those hymns. Found out Noé is a really good singer also. Like, choir boy good. Makes me wonder if maybe he would be interested in joining a music club or something. Maybe there's something he could get involved with at his school. I'll have to talk to him about it. But thanks to both Okaa-san's and Noé's singing, it helped make me focus less on the fact that Otou-san couldn't sing at all. In fact, he sounded like...like Goku when he's howling. >>; I really wished Okaa-san would've discouraged him from even trying, because I think the rest of us, along with a few church-goers near us, were trying very hard not to laugh at him for it. ^^;

But besides that, it's time for school to start up again tomorrow. Akaya will finally be with the rest of us at the high school, which I'm really happy for. Even though we could just walk over to the middle school to see him still, it just wasn't the same not having him around and on the team with us. So now we're all together again. Which also means we're gonna completely own the rest of you guys come the start of the tennis season again. Sorry in advance for kicking all your asses! ^^
Noé also starts his first day of school here. He'll be going to the same elementary school that me, Bunta, and Akaya went to, Kanagawa Dai-san. He might have a bit of difficulty at first since he's still getting used to speaking in Japanese, but he'll have help from the school's counselor while he adjusts. And once he does, I think he'll like it there. A lot of the teachers that were there when we were at the school are still there, so he might end up being taught by some of our old sensei. I hope he gets Sekine-sensei at some point. She was my favorite teacher there. Akaya? Bunta? Do either of you remember her? I think it was because of her that I started liking biology and science in general so much. She was always having us do all sorts of activities that involved learning about what makes up the things around us and what we're all made of. She knew how to make doing classwork fun. ^^ I miss her a lot. Maybe one of these days I'll drop by the school and pay her a visit. She might not remember me, though. But then again...I kind of stood out from all the other students in her class for a few different reasons. >>; Kinda easy to recognize when you're the only bald and dark-skinned kid in the group.

[OOC: The cathedral he's talking about really exists, btw. And the random idea of turning Noé into a future professional singer popped into my head and I'm gonna nurture it. :3]

kanagawa dai-san, school, akaya, easter, sekine-sensei, bunta, okaa-san, always win rikkai dai!, Noé, otou-san, church, singing
