Okay, something really weird has happened. Usually, I finish NaNoWriMo in November, then I don't want to write another syllable until January. It's like I get burnt out on writing. Today, I won my NaNoWriMo challenge with 50,238 words! And I didn't even have to finish with gibberish. I was able to keep with the story. As with every year, I feel pretty accomplished when I hit that goal. This year is no exception, but there is one major accomplishment that is different this year. I have one more day to reach my goal. Concerning the word count, I have a little more than 1100 words to go, which shouldn't be a problem assuming nothing weird happens tomorrow to prevent me from writing. I had a little bit of a scare today. I knew I had been busy with Thanksgiving, Christmas decorating and shopping since Wednesday and that had put me at least a day or so behind, but I didn't keep track of it exactly. I finally finished my book cover, now that we're more than half way through the month. I really like the way it turned out. But of course, when I print it, it loses a lot of detail like the cracks in the rocks. Strangely, when I print it on "Best Quality" it loses even more detail, including a lot of the shadows. I had wanted to get ahead a little last weekend on my word count, but guess what. I wrote NOTHING on Sunday, and wrote a little more than 500 words on Monday due to being busy and generally not feeling well. That put me, if I'm not mistaken, about 3000 words behind. I have been plugging away at my NaNoWriMo goals, which has left me no time to blog about it until now. I was off to a rocky start on November 1st when I only had a short time at the end of my day to make my goal. It's more than half way through the month. I have 13 days and three hours left, according to NaNoWriMo, and I still have not finished my outline. The story involves a MacGuffin that carries its own story through 3 or 4 shorter stories. I didn't do National Novel Writing Month last year. I had done it the previous three years and won each time. My first year's novel started off fairly well. But after receiving some negative feedback on it (something along the lines of "What's the point? Nothing's happening."), I started second guessing myself, became discouraged and left it.
