"Wanna see Sin City tomorrow?"

On Friday night, Monica and I hung out with Jessica, her roommates, and their friends. We ate dinner at Jessica's dorm, and then met up with more people, including Brandy, at Pizzeria Uno's on Mill to have desert. I shared a huge Peanut Butter Cup that brought back memories from a few years ago when I was living in a two bedroom dorm with three other guys, since that was the first place we (as a group) ate out at. Its hard to forget the reaction we had when realizing how deceivingly small the desert is portrayed in the menu's picture.

Afterwards, we went to the theater and watched Sin City. All I knew going into it was that it was based on three graphic novels and that the black & white look of it from a preview I had seen was appealing to me. The back story to how the film was made is just as interesting and daring as the movie. Sin City seemed to be a lot longer than its actual two hour running time, but that's because drama, artistic value, gore, and brutality were all pushed to the limits in this movie. The way Frank Miller's story telling and drawing style has been captured in the movie resulted in something so unique that it leaves me wanting to see more intriguingly artistic movies like this in theaters. Based on what Jake was telling me about how closely the movie followed the novels, it is quite possibly one of the best comic book or graphic novel adaptations ever brought to the big screen. With a production company name like "Troublemaker Studios", I suppose it is not much of a surprise how far Robert Rodriguez was willing to go and how much he was willing to sacrafice to get Sin City made. I just hope that other film makers can follow by creating their own pleasent surprises for movie goers.

"I made a joke about the Pope and look what happens..."
There was a campus wide power outage yesterday that made for an interesting start to my shift at work. A student blaming himself for the incident was the closest thing I was able to get for an explination, as I was unable to find one from a few local news web sites or even Google News yesterday. After reading this article from the State Press today, it turns out that strong winds caused a power outage with APS that also affected the downtown Tempe area.

Check out this odd, but highly addictive Anime game made in Flash that involves hitting a dude as far as you can using a girl on a bike and other girls standing around. Its all the rage with students and staff from work, posted on our message boards by Zach (unmerrymelodies). My highest score was 9K, but Seth got over 11K once.

I'm on day two of steroids. Lifting a couple boxes of paper reams seemed somewhat effortless today. At this rate, I'll be carring a fourty box pallet over my head by day six.
