Recent Upliftings

"Its almost the weekend and you've had a long week. Just take it easy for the rest of your shift."

As I walk around the computing site, I see a woman resting her head face down on a keyboard. With how I felt for a moment just over an hour ago, I wondered why that wasn't me. I was so intent on polishing my own resume & cover letter for a couple of hours, in addition to mock ones that I had to give extensive multi-page reviews of for my Writing for Professionals class, but I guess I’ve gotten burnt out on doing all that and hit a big wall with a message.

A similar feeling hit me yesterday mid way through my shift. Fortunately, a Crusade meeting cured that. They had a musical guest: JJ Heller. I had heard her last semester at another Cru meeting. A beautiful voice and incredible guitar work by her husband really lifted me up that night. So much so that Monica could hear it in my voice over the phone and I bought both of JJs CDs. I look forward to consolidating both CDs into one and listening to them in my car tomorrow. I just need to remember that Easy CD Creator is “easy” for a reason - It blows. It burned the correct number of tracks, but the darn thing somehow added two minutes of silence to one track and then attached another song to it. This happened despite the fact that I was using my fast computer at work, buffer under run protection was enabled, and the CD’s contents were copied to the hard drive first. Hopefully such problems don’t plague all users of this widely packaged program.

I found two job postings that are both essentially two steps up from mine and would be a huge pay raise. I meet the minimum qualifications for both, but meet most of the desired qualifications for only one. I’ll apply for both next week after proof reading the documents that I’ll submit, and we’ll see what happens.

It's the 11th hour now - It won't be much longer.

I’m paying a visit to Monica this weekend. I only wish it were a considerably extended one.
