We saw 300 today. As much as I wanted to like this movie, I'd have to give it a big, fat, DFor a long time I've thought that the Battle of Thermopylae would be a great basis for a big-time CGI epic- I remember Derek and I talking about this years ago. After a recent Wallace Stegner binge it seems like I've been watching Westerns non-stop. The other day I watched "The Cowboys" with John Wayne, which I hadn't seen for at least ten years. Its a fairly decent movie, but the definite highlight is Bruce Dern, who is absolutely amazing as the sadistic leader of a gang of cow rustlers ( Read more... )

I have mixed feelings after seeing "Lady in the Water"... it was, well, hmmm. I dunno. I think I liked it, but I'm still not sure. After reading quite a few different reviews on the film, the only one that I could find that came close to how I felt was over at Juicy Cerebellum.

We went and saw Mean Creek yesterday at the Palm Theater in San Luis. We didn't know much about it except that it had Rory Culkin... kid brother to both Richie Rich and Igby!
