Well it was my first day at work today, and it went pretty well. I was dropped off this morning by T, and then he went back to pack up the rest of our things up in Taranaki, as we'll be moving to Wellington next weekend, or at least that is the plan so far. We found a nice flat to live in this past weekend after a long day of searching, with me still having a bit of a fever and feeling nauseous. So this afternoon, I had to navigate myself around Wellington and find my bus stops and such. I was still been a bit nervous even though T and I went through all of the fine details yesterday as we took a stroll around Wellington, as it was a very beautiful day. T said it was a classic Winter day in Wellington, it was absolutely beautiful looking out at the harbour. We took a stroll through at interesting photography exhibit at the National Library of NZ and also saw the beautiful and also quite decorative Old St. Paul's Church, where a woman kept reminding us it would be a great place for a wedding (we're not even engaged)!!!! I'm here tonight at his friends' house all alone (it's a couple), but he should be back again tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to. I find I have so many conflicting emotions when he leaves me here with friends, as I miss him intensely but the independence and accomplishment I feel when I do these things on my own in a new country is overwhelming and amazing at times. Even though it is an English-speaking country, there are so many cultural rules and minor things, there's still constant learning going on everyday for me.
I wish I could write more, but as I'm staying with friends I don't want to be taking up a lot of time on their computer. So hope to hear from you soon and just wanted to keep updating this. I'm also going to try to take some new pictures over the next couple of days here. laters, bn.
