So Friday Night Lights has been renewed. I'm both relieved and excited--Season One was a near-perfect season of television, in my opinion, but there's so much more development possible for the characters and I'm glad we'll get to see that. If you're not already watching the show, I'd highly recommend catching up for season two. (kristiinthedark and norwich36, I am ( Read more... )

There are rumours flying that Season 4 will be the last season of Battlestar Galactica. I'd kind of already resigned myself to that possibility.

Yeah, me too. Considering how crazy I am for that show, I'm strangely zen about it. I conclude that I must have accepted it long ago.

Also, I forgot to mention that I saw "Prototype" and I thought it was really good. I especially loved the end scene between Lois and Tahmoh's character. People pick on Lois? That's sad to hear. She seemed feisty to me.

Bring on the FNL DVDs for summer viewing!

Yes, I'm crazily zen about it too. Maybe because I feel they are reaching the point where they need to wrap it up. I mean: Earth! We've seen Earth now!

Eeeee! \o/ Yay! I loved it. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, there's a ridiculous amount of venom spewed at Lois--most markedly at TWOP (which is why I hate the place), where she is referred to as 'Nois'.

FNL DVDs--yes!! I'm sure you'll love it.

Aw, that's too bad; I feel fortunate that the BSG section has more Television with Pity (and analysis).

I think you're dead on about the glimpse of Earth creating a greater sense in me that the show will be over soon--plus there's the fact that Kara's been there and back. I don't know, I'm sure I'll be a lot more melancholy when the show nears its end, and miss it like hell when it's gone, I'm just not freaking out about it. I think I heaved a huge sigh of relief when it was renewed for one more season, and I've just never fretted about it since then.

Same! I felt I was waiting ages to hear that it would get a fourth season. And now I'm relieved. Kara's been there--dragging it out for another two seasons seems like it would stretch credulity. I will probably be crazily emo when the final season actually draws to a close. (Since entering fandom that's something I haven't lived through yet--the end of a show.) But I don't have to think about that yet. *lalalas*

I really have to check out FNL this summer, everyone is so squeeful.

Ah fandom. The bitchiness is tiring me out. I love fandom, my life would be so much more boring if it weren't for TV shows and fandom, but sometimes I have a feeling that fandom is doing everything in it's power to ruin my enjoyment of the show. :) I'm actually looking forward to summer hiatus for once.

I get that feeling too sometimes. I just don't understand why people spend so much time hating. Just... move on!!! There are so many things to love in this world, why spend your time on hate?

Oh, yay! Another FNL fan! *twirls you* Yes, it's so real--that's definitely a big part of the attraction for me. The rawness in the acting performances is incredible. Later in the season there are a couple of deleted scenes (DELETED scenes!) that made me cry they were so moving.

Just say no to character bashing
WORD.

Awww! Yes, that scene was very powerful indeed. I actually find do find it a very emotional show. But you can rest easy now that you know it's been renewed. I gather people think it will stagnate in the timeslot it's been given (Friday 10pm), but I think it's just good news it got renewed at all and I would guess it's the kind of show that will get a cult following overseas and via DVD, so it might be able to hold its ground anyway.

I haven't heard which length yet, but I hope a full season. Rewatching with your son sounds wonderful. I'm dying for the DVDs too. The deleted material should be great judging by the few deleted scenes I've caught online.

the free-for-all arrogant one-upmanship in insulting anyone that's not Chloe that reigns over common civility over there turns my stomach
*seconds* I can't go there. I haven't been able to go there for months--over a year? Occasionally friends send me links to comments made there so I get a feeling for what's going on and I... just... *shudders* It's not meta, it's a slanging match. There's a reason I stay on LJ. The trouble is also, I think, that the kind of culture that springs up over there is very self-reinforcing--the insults are condoned, so they're accepted as 'fact'. I just hate it when people don't allow others to have their own take on the show.

With all the gripes we ALL occasionally have about the show, a post like that reinforces all the good tingly reasons why we ARE fans regardless of the bumps. ( ... )

Question for the SV fen: is there/was there a haiku challenge somewhere? Methinks yes, but I forget where.

I don't know is that's the one you read about, but there's a little haiku challenge/contest over at the justtomwelling com. It's about Tom, and clarkscherry will give away a price to the winner. :D

As for your post, I never go to TWOP, I just can't stand the bitchiness there. There are some SV characters I don't like much, but I'd rather stay away from constant character bashing and really narrow minded views. Besides, some people are really disrespectful of others' opinions. I want to enjoy my fandom experience as much as possible so I try to avoid useless confrontations. I for one am not happy with SV season 6 but I understand that to much negativity ruins the watching experience for others, and for myself. I miss the times when watching the show was mostly a joyful experience!

Oh, maybe! I have a friend new to SV who is very good at these things. I will send her over! :-)

*nods* I very very rarely go to TWOP myself. I gave up ages ago because of the negativity and narrow-mindedness. It still saddens me to hear that it goes on there, but I stay on LJ for a reason.

I miss the times when watching the show was mostly a joyful experience!I'm sorry to hear that. I have my own disappointments with the show as well, and while I've been happy overall with season 6 (though it didn't quite play out the way I expected), I definitely sympathise with the feeling of being let down sometimes, and I think it's very gracious of you to focus on ( ... )
