So Friday Night Lights has been renewed. I'm both relieved and excited--Season One was a near-perfect season of television, in my opinion, but there's so much more development possible for the characters and I'm glad we'll get to see that. If you're not already watching the show, I'd highly recommend catching up for season two. (

the free-for-all arrogant one-upmanship in insulting anyone that's not Chloe that reigns over common civility over there turns my stomach
*seconds* I can't go there. I haven't been able to go there for months--over a year? Occasionally friends send me links to comments made there so I get a feeling for what's going on and I... just... *shudders* It's not meta, it's a slanging match. There's a reason I stay on LJ. The trouble is also, I think, that the kind of culture that springs up over there is very self-reinforcing--the insults are condoned, so they're accepted as 'fact'. I just hate it when people don't allow others to have their own take on the show.
With all the gripes we ALL occasionally have about the show, a post like that reinforces all the good tingly reasons why we ARE fans regardless of the bumps. Bottom line is - it feels GREAT to roll around and wallow in the love once in a while.
YES!! Exactly! Of course we all get frustrated with the show at times. (Even now, there's part of me that is grumbly that the Zoners have fallen into the background so much.) But I'm in fandom for the joy not the pain, and I'd rather focus on the good stuff. I will never understand why people spend their time hating rather than loving. If they're hating the show that much, move on. If they're not getting what they want from the show, but they still like the characters/universe, then go read fanfic/write fanfic/make something! Or just focus on what you do like. Don't spew venom over everyone else.
