Summary: If there was anyone that could get Lily out of this mess, it was Veronica.

It all starts here.
She’s finally allowed out and about by herself. At least the press have finally stopped camping at the gates for now. But then what did you really expect when the daughter of one of the richest men in Neptune ‘finds’ the body of a famous movie star?
Lily drives around Neptune, just glad to be free again. All the strange stuff is forgotten as she just enjoys being out in the open again. She’s felt so… cramped ever since the incident.
With a start, she suddenly recognises where she’s automatically driven to.
It’s the same place as from her dreams.
Lily sits in her car and studies the area intently. Same alleyway there, same broken window there. Even the same tattered poster on the pole there.
She’s never been to this part of Neptune before. She knows that deep down inside her. And yet it’s all so familiar. The same place as in her dreams. She knows that deep down too.
It’s broad daylight in the Californian sunshine, middle of summer. And yet Lily feels chills creeping down her back.
“This is stupid,” she says aloud, and gets out of the car.
Something shifts in the shadows in the alleyway.
Lily edges further and further into the alley. It’s getting darker and darker in here as the shadows grow. She’s Lily Kane, dammit. Why is she doing this crazy thing? She could be home, raiding Celeste’s liquor cabinet right now.
Something moves again.
And suddenly, there’s a squeal and a cat shoots past her into the street.
She releases the breath she didn’t realise she was holding and watches it go. “Only a frigging cat,” she says quietly.
There’s a whirl of motion as the rag pile beside her explodes into life, and then there’s only pain at her neck.
