I thought of a way to make work more exciting by using terribly false hopes (usage?) for the future.
Different random reasons for cancelled days of work.
They could be very odd and few and far between, but they would be very uplifting. Like say there is a rule that if it snows on the third Thursday of a month, BAM, vacation day for all. Or say, it rains a certain number of inches for consecutive days, on the fourth business day, THWAP, no one has to come in. Weather examples are the most obvious but the possibilities are endless.
It reminds me of the lotto in that the prospect of it happening would get people talking and hoping and out of their dull existence for a few minutes a day and the rare fantastic free Thursday (or whathaveyou) vacation day.
