I think this week's two main plot lines, Adama's relationships as a father/husband and Chief/Cally's struggle to work out their marriage/parenthood, were a really good choice. There's been so much of the show's drama revolving around romantic relationships and how those impact the characters, that it was really refreshing to have so much import and emphasis placed on the other aspects of people's emotional and social interactions--particularly families. I would have been totally okay with significantly less Cally-whining, but on the whole, I really liked the story lines for this episode.
Best scene of entire episode (which could be translated to read: whatever is the scene where Kara gets the most lines/screen-time): Lee's speech to the pilots in the briefing room. I love how Kara sat--with one knee drawn up and resting her foot on the seat, so hot! And she smirked and fidgeted with her pen and I bloody well MELTED!
And then! There was freakin PILOT!FLIRTING!!!!!! Wheeeeeeee! They bantered and smiled and teased like old times. Yay for pilot!friends and UST, woohoo!
Jamie totally carried his own though with the re-emergence of emo!Lee while talking about his mother. That scene was awesome. I love any glimpse into Lee's life before the attacks.
Other random stuff:
So apparently, if you're married and/or have a baby on Galactica you get the extra-huge living quarters. We've seen Lee/Dee, Athena/Helo, and now Chief/Cally in these sweet rooms that are palatial compared to the pilots bunks. Hmmmm....
I loved Chief's crack at the slacker deck-hand: "well, it'll take YOU all day at least..."
I also loved the pond at Adama's dream/flashback house. So pretty! Nice to have a hallucination-house other than Gaius' lakeview fortress.
Okay,
beerbad, I get it now. MM is hot. The flirty, smiley Roslin was totally working for me in this ep. Yup, I get it now ;) And I even dug the Roslin/Adama flirtiness (normally I could care less about them as a ship).
And, um...Nicky? Cutest damn chubby baby evah.
