I don't think it's lasting and I'm sure it's because of a variety of different things, but generally right now I'm not feeling the fandom vibe for anything (with the noted exceptions below). Not even Merlin. Which is not to say that well and truly inspired Merlin fans like keymash and cherprudence should hesitate to gush at me. I LONG FOR YOUR ENTHUSIASM ( Read more... )

I've never even heard of her, as far as I can remember! and yet she has all these Newberrys!

Her books sound amazing. I'm excited.

Did you read House of the Scorpion? It think it came out in 2005. It is EXCELLENT.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch the auditions. There's no Rymon anyway, because Ryan isn't in the room with the judges but outside with the families and the singers. And the auditions are really tiresome; many seasons I skip them altogether.

However, the first live show Simon asks about Ryan's panties, so there you go.

I remember reading East and noting a lot of the same things you did (a la our purple-eyed Mary Sue), but I didn't remember thinking any of the things didn't make sense. So I was sort of reading this and wondering why that was, and I think the reason a lot of the very strange "oh. there is someone unknown in my bed. whut. okay uhm just roll with it, rose" worked for me - at the time - was that it was (sort of loosely) based on the Cupid and Psyche myth. I guess I had that as sort of a backlog and even though THAT doesn't make much sense either, I was too distracted by GREEK MYTHS + POLAR BEARS WTF HOW IS LIFE THIS AWESOME (I have an irrational love for anthropomorphic polar bears. Philip Pullman, I blame YOU) to question it. It's definitely very weird, though - even now I think "well what else was she SUPPOSED to do" (answer: freak the f**k out) but I agree with your review. Well, other than the not-liking-different-POVs bit but that's Philip Pullman's fault as well.OH AND CAN THE DEMON'S LEXICON JUST COME OUT ALREADY, I'VE HAD A ( ... )

You were just displacing your Merlin apathy onto me several posts ago, I see what you did there! No, but I don't know, I am feeling it too, probably why neither of us have written a thing for weeks. Alas. I still feel passionate about Sir Accalon and the rain and stuff. BUT BLAIR WALDORF, AJA, HOW CAN YOU NOT FEEL FANDOM JOY ABOUT BLAIR WALDORF ( ... )
